Going Coconuts

ColourPop Going Coconuts 9-Pan Pressed Shadow Palette ($12.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, muted neutral palette featuring a mix of mattes and shimmers (and no Pressed Glitters!). The palette ranged more muted with neutral to neutral-warm undertones compared to very rosy or more orange-toned neutrals. The eyeshadows had opaque pigmentation, soft and blendable textures, and lasted between eight and nine hours on me.

Shredded

Shredded is a light-medium, yellowed beige with moderate, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer with a soft, lightly powdery texture that didn’t seem to have much in the way of fallout, but it did seem to apply more cool-toned when layered and blended into other shades in the palette. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Palm Reader

Palm Reader is a bright, white gold with barely-there, warmer shimmer and micro-sparkle paired with a metallic finish. It had rich color payoff with a more loosely-pressed texture, so there was a bit of excess product kicked up in the pan and some fallout during application if I wasn’t careful to tap off the excess. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Coolada

Coolada is a light-medium taupe with neutral-to-warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had excellent color coverage in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin and remained blendable along the edges without losing its intensity. The texture was soft, a smidgen powdery in the pan, but easy to work with and not prone to fallout. It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Lovely Bunch

Lovely Bunch is a soft brown with muted, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color payoff in one layer, while the consistency was soft without being powdery but not so firmly pressed into the pan that it was stiff to work with. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Coco Crush

Coco Crush is a bright, pale copper with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a soft, more loosely-pressed texture that felt very cream-like to the touch. I had to be careful to use it with a lighter hand to avoid disturbing the surface too much, though! It applied evenly and blended out nicely. It wore well for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly on me.

This is almost old-fashioned! It’s from the BMR era…Before Modern Renaissance. Refreshing change. There are plenty of dupes, but they aren’t all in one place. This is great for people who are a tad tired of the red tones. Who would have predicted that such a set of basics would look almost revolutionary?

Donna Avatar

Agreed! I love the simplicity of this palette and it’s a nice change from palettes like MR. I like having all these colours in one palette.. I think it will be a great staple to travel with.

Genevieve Avatar

Colour Pop can do it so well without the pressed glitter, un-eyesafe shades and lots and lots of pinks, reds and oranges.
This is a lovely muted neutral palette, I only wish that there were more shimmer shades than mattes, but the colours do complement each other.
Lovely eye look Christine.

Joyce Avatar

This is the first ColourPop 12-pan palette that has called to me! Super excited about it YAYYY!!!

I wish the white gold wasn’t super stark but I’ll survive ^__^

Karen Avatar

This is such a beautiful palette! But I also don’t need another more shimmers. Does anyone know of an alternative palette like this (neutral tone mattes)? Preferably less pans with mattes/slight satin neutral toned

Nikki Avatar

Am still looking for a good neutral-to-cool palette. Tried the colourpop Fame Palette and I just didn’t like it. The matte shadows were stiff and hard to blend, which are what I am most interested in, and the shimmer/sparkly shades had no staying power for me. I haven’t had these issues with other, warmer palettes from colourpop. How does this one compare? I am afraid it will lean warm red/orange on me, as opposed to cooler neutral.

Binghan Avatar

Does colourpop ever have quality control issues between palettes? Like between the same palette. I just ordered this and double entendre and received it today. The formula is great (my first colourpop order) but coolada and lovely bunch are noticeably bad, especially compared to the others. The other colors are all creamy and soft, but those two felt very stiff and was unpigmented. During a finger swatch it felt chalky and I had to do two layers to get it to look like the other layers. On the eye I had to really build up color, and I find coolada was harder to blend out (there was a line where the brush first touched, even though I buffed it). It looked good in the end but I felt it was much more work vs. the double entendre look I did. Just curious as it is so well reviewed here, but my swatches of the two colors did not look like that!

Christine Avatar

I’ve generally found ColourPop to be consistent in re-releases (but not 100% of the time, of course), but that would be over time, like a shade released in a palette and then later on as a single, but I don’t get multiples of the same item typically!
