Editor's Review

The Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick formula is supposed to have “high-intensity color” in a "single stroke" that "glides on effortlessly" and has "six hour" wear. More recent copy of the formula has been more specific as it having "medium-to-full coverage."

Most shades in the range are lightweight, creamy with moderate slip with semi-opaque to opaque coverage that wears four to seven hours. The formula tends to sit well on lips and either gives the illusion of plumpness or smooths out lip lines slightly. It's also hydrating while worn.

They are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Defiant Coral is the color that first started me on this formula. Love its genius marriage of creaminess and weightlessness. Lips still feel smooth and most importantly, I don’t feel a heavy layer on my lips icks. Color is a MLBB leaning towards coral. Love it dabbed on for a just bitten look. A full swipe yield greater coverage that still looks polished and not OTT. I’m lemming to try Intense Nude next.

The colour for me as a light-neutral (I\'m a lancome colour 130 porcelain d\'ivoire) was a perfect slightly peach nude, it\'s a pretty close match to my actual lip color but slightly warmer. I REALLY like the colour. But the STREAKS. It settled in the cracks in my lip and on all the un-eveness and was opaque in the cracks and sheer on the rest and layering only made it worse. Also the vanilla scent. Is a GROSS vanilla scent. It\'s too sweet. The formula itself I find quite comfortable, and it didn\'t seem to bleed, but I could never wear this in public. It looked gross. I would add a picture but I seem to be having a hard time getting the badness of how it accentuates lip creases to photograph. This is a return for me, and because of the smell, Estee Lauder is a hard no-go. Moreover the packaging is dated, it doesn\'t make me feel like I purchased a luxury product. It makes me feel like I purchased a 1992 Mustang. The marketing and package, while it is magnetic and heavy and I like that, just FEELS dated.

I received this as a present. The formula is soooooo creamy and shiny, the smell is nice without being overpowering (smell like high-class pharmacy product) and the pigment is nice, buildable, but (like all similar lip product shades) it STREAKS badly. As soon as you get a crevice it shall go there. But this lipstick is very buildable. You can go from a light plum tint to a dark, almost black finish. It doesn't hold too well (when I put many layers) but you still have a sheer trace. Doesn't withstand drinking or eating. But your lips won't feel dry at all.

I received this lipstick as part of a gift-with-purchase ages ago and tossed it into a drawer. I found it yesterday and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did because Estee Lauder Intense Nude is an absolutely gorgeous rosy nude. It is extremely comfortable to wear and lasts a very long time for a non-matte lipstick. The formula is creamy and opaque with a light sheen, similar to a satin. It's not really hydrating, but it isn't drying at all. (I think I dismissed it for so long due to its ugly packaging, which hid the luxuriousness of the lipstick inside. I know it's packaged this way because it's a freebie, but I didn't notice it in my drawer for so long because it blended in with the drugstore lipsticks that I never reach for. I will probably want to buy this beautiful shade after I use it up, and then I'll finally have the pretty packaging!)
