Single Eyeshadows (Over $10) | 2022 Editor's Favorites

Lisa Eldridge Eyeshadow Palette
Lisa Eldridge Eyeshadow Palette

In past years’ roundups, I’ve included Multichromes with Single Eyeshadows, but this year, there were quite a few shades reviewed in the Multichrome finish… and they just needed their own post. I also thought it would be more interesting to see what “regular” eyeshadows stood out in the singles department given that there aren’t THAT many by mainstream brands. The biggest release of singles this year was definitely from Lisa Eldridge, which offered the eyeshadows in five pre-made eyeshadow palette color stories as well as refills.

Temptalia’s Favorite Single Eyeshadows (Over $10)| 2022

If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2022, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!). (You can check out the best of 2021 posts if you missed last year’s.)

Your Year in Review: Single Eyeshadow Edition

I thought it would be interesting to read through how readers used products throughout the year, what favorites emerged, what products fell by the wayside… so, if you want to join in, copy and paste the questions below and add your answers via a comment!

  • What were your top five single eyeshadows?
  • Do you prefer single eyeshadows over eyeshadow palettes?
  • What brand would you love to see more single eyeshadows from in 2023?

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

What were your top five single eyeshadows?
My top five singles are all from SG: Phosphenes, Recruit, Antique Coin, Exquisite Opulence (because I can’t resist a fabulous gold shade) and Tiana.

Do you prefer single eyeshadows over eyeshadow palettes? Generally I do love my eye palettes, but sometimes want/need that very different colour to add to my eye looks, so I will reach for a single. I don’t tend to buy neutral singles, as I have so many neutral palettes, so I tend to get more unsusual shades (for me) to add that extra oomph when I want to.

What brand would you love to see more single eyeshadows from in 2023?
I don’t know of any other brands, except for the ones you have reviewed on this blog. I have really enjoyed the Victoria Beckham singles and the JD Glow and Give Me Glow brands.

WHAT WERE YOUR TOP FIVE SINGLE EYESHADOWS?
Bought in 2022, in no particular order: Give Me Glow Sour Apple, Give Me Glow Lemon Lime, Sydney Grace Cassiopeia, Sydney Grace Cuddle Buddy, and Sydney Grace Green Must

Honorable mentions: Sydney Grace The Mielke Way and Heart Dog. I put them as honorable mentions because I usually use the ones in my palettes. I bought the singles for travel only.
DO YOU PREFER SINGLE EYESHADOWS OVER EYESHADOW PALETTES?
No, but I love singles for that extra “somethin’ somethin’.” I also really love the curated e/s bundles Sydney Grace comes out with, though I think of them more as palettes.

WHAT BRAND WOULD YOU LOVE TO SEE MORE SINGLE EYESHADOWS FROM IN in 2023?
I’m always happy to see more from Sydney Grace, Terra Moon, Devinah, and Lethal Cosmetics.
