There were just over 150 blushes that I reviewed in 2022 that were over $15, so it was on the more challenging side to narrow down my list to a manageable amount of favorites. Lethal’s new shimmery blushes really won me over this past year, though.

Temptalia’s Favorite Blushes (Over $15) | 2022

If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2022, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!). (You can check out the best of 2021 posts if you missed last year’s.)

Your Year in Review: Blushes Edition — Part 2

I thought it would be interesting to read through how readers used products throughout the year, what favorites emerged, what products fell by the wayside… so, if you want to join in, copy and paste the questions below and add your answers via a comment!

  • Did you prefer cream or powder blush in 2022?
  • Are you looking to add any blush to your collection in 2023?
  • What was your go-to tool for applying blush in 2022?

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

ARE YOU LOOKING TO ADD ANY BLUSH TO YOUR COLLECTION IN 2023?
No, but that doesn’t mean I won’t.

WHAT WAS YOUR GO-TO TOOL FOR APPLYING BLUSH IN 2022?
Powder: Real Techniques Blush Brush (the big fluffy one with a pink handle). Cream: Either my fingers or e. l. f. Small Stipple Brush (DC?).

Did you prefer cream or powder blush in 2022? Definitely powder!

Are you looking to add any blush to your collection in 2023? Having just received my MAC Whitney Houston Nippy’s Plum blush, I’m not actively looking for anything new right now.

What was your go-to tool for applying blush in 2022? Several well-loved, oft-used synthetic blush brushes. Elf Stippling brush from the Pro Line (black handle) works very well for applying intense shades in a way that doesn’t look clownish. I also love the the Elf Pro Line tapered blush brush and several by Luxie Brushes that are absolute must-haves for me!

Did you prefer cream or powder blush in 2022?
I always use a powder blush as I think the cream ones would end up looking too dewy on my cheeks, as I prefer a mattish finish.

Are you looking to add any blush to your collection in 2023?
Yes I am. I purchased the Shiseido Inner Glow blush in a coral shade, but there really wasn’t much product in the pan. Luckily I only paid $24 for it at Ozsale Ian online Australian retailer) and not the full price, as I have already hit pan on it. So I am looking for another really good blush.

What was your go-to tool for applying blush in 2022?
My go to tool for applying blush is a Clarin’s angled blush brush and it does the job well.

Do I prefer cream or powder blush ?

I prefer powder blush due to ease of application. For a natural look I prefer cream. I also love the liquid/gel type blushes maybe they are considered cream? Glossier cloud paints are my fav with Rare Beauty second.

Are you looking to add any blushes?

No but I am sucked in by new innovative products.

Go to tool for application?

Blush brushes by Sonia G. For powder and a Hakuhodo duo fiber brush (goat/synthetic) #4002 for creams and liquid/gel blush.

*no, 2/2 to my profession as a clinician and always in a N95 mask, I don’t wear blush often to warrant buying much.
What was your go-to tool for applying blush in 2022?
*Clean fingers and damp paw-paw sponge for blending out the edges.

Did you prefer cream or powder blush in 2022? Both! I always layer a cream blush under a powder blush for longevity.

Are you looking to add any blush to your collection in 2023? Not planning on it, unless I run out of something.

What was your go-to tool for applying blush in 2022? My fingers or a PMGL stipling brush for liquid or cream, and for powder i use a very old Morphe angled blush brush that I’ve had for years and is still my favorite.
