Highlighters (Under $15) | 2022 Editor's Favorites
With 55+ highlighters reviewed that were under $15, I was surprised ColourPop only made up 22 of them, LOL! I adore ColourPop’s highlighters (often in the form of Super Shock Cheek or Lite Stix), but Elf Halo Glow is an excellent liquid highlighter that I really love for mixing in with foundation.

If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2022, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!). (You can check out the best of 2021 posts if you missed last year’s.)
Your Year in Review: Highlighters Edition — Part 1
I thought it would be interesting to read through how readers used products throughout the year, what favorites emerged, what products fell by the wayside… so, if you want to join in, copy and paste the questions below and add your answers via a comment!
- Favorite highlighter you purchased or rediscovered in 2022?
- Did you finish any highlighters in 2022?
- What was your go-to highlighter in 2022?
Favorite highlighter you purchased or rediscovered in 2022? Rediscovered my old bottle of Marc Jacobs Dew Drops and MAC Strobe Cream in an effort to keep my Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation from oxidizing or looking too heavy on me. Like, I want coverage, but…
Did you finish any highlighters in 2022? Nope!
What was your go-to highlighter in 2022? ABH Amrezy, PML Golden Nectar and Nars Breathless.
I forgot all about my Haus Labs Pink Amethyst Bio-radiant highlighter as one of my go-to’s until I went to the next post where I saw a few from that formula, LOL.
I was disappointed by the ELF Halo Glow as I was hoping they would include a pale neutral or cool shade, which CT doesn’t have, but the lightest one in ELF’s line is much too dark and almost orange.
Although not launched this year, I bought Catrice’s Supreme Rose Beam abt a month ago and it has a stunning baked gelee formula that at $6, is better than some of my high end highlighters.
FAVORITE HIGHLIGHTER YOU PURCHASED OR REDISCOVERED IN 2022?
DID YOU FINISH ANY HIGHLIGHTERS IN 2022?
No, but I’m close to finishing my last backup of ColourPop SS in Hippo (DC). I have pan in City Color Cosmetics Intense Exposure Highlighting Powder (DC), and deep dips in some of my Looxi Beauty HLs.
WHAT WAS YOUR GO-TO HIGHLIGHTER IN 2022?
City Color Cosmetics Intense Exposure Highlighting Powder (DC), ColourPop SS in Hippo (DC), and Sugar Drizzle Darlin’ Nikki Mylighter Tri Chrome Highlighter (LE).
I was reading other people’s answers and saw I never answered the first question.
FAVORITE HIGHLIGHTER YOU PURCHASED OR REDISCOVERED IN 2022?
Sugar Drizzle Darlin’ Nikki Mylighter Tri Chrome Highlighter.
Favorite highlighter you purchased or rediscovered in 2022? I have used the old KVD Metalcrush Eyeshadow as a peachy gold highlighter a ton this year and it is so beautiful and glowy! I also LOVE the Rare Beauty Highlighters I recently purchased. They are just lovely.
Did you finish any highlighters in 2022? LOL, nope.
What was your go-to highlighter in 2022? The above and also the ND Rose Cheek Duo highlight has been absolutely beautiful as well.
