Guerlain Imperial Moon Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Imperial Moon (011)
Guerlain Imperial Moon (011) Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette ($85.00 for 0.2 oz.) includes four shimmery eyeshadows that ranged from softer, satin to brighter, more sparkly and metallic finishes. The color story was more subdued, slightly neutral in hue. Three of the four shades were very pigmented, while one was sheerer, but they were all blendable, sat well on bare skin, and lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of wear.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "intense pigments for long-lasting color" across four finishes: "intense satin," "deep matte," luminous metallic," and "radiant pearl." The majority of the shades were quite pigmented applied dry, but it seemed, by texture and look of the pan, to be a wet/dry formula to me, so I tried them damp as well. I didn't feel like using them dampened was necessary except for a few of the "radiant pearl" finish shades, which had more shimmer/sparkle.
The "deep matte" finish tended to have a firmer and more cream-like feel, so using a denser brush to pick up to apply and diffuse color was best, while the other finishes were more moderately-dense--firm but not stiff--and blended out well as they "melted" on my skin. The eyeshadows lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of fading with a few getting closer to nine hours of wear.

I love shades 2 and 4 but don’t love the price of this, even if all 4 were must have shades (I might bite the bullet if all 4 were absolutely perfect….I can’t believe I’m saying, er, writing, this).
Christine, is there any reason why you’ve not provided dupes for the last 2 Guerlain quads?
Hi Mariella,
I just haven’t entered them yet (resting my wrists).
They should be up now! Catching up on dupes and trying to get most of next week’s done was on my to-do list today.
Oh gosh….I guess there’s a part of me that sort of thought/hoped that if you entered one or two top dupes for things, the rest would sort of insert themselves automatically (sort of like “dupe autofill”). Wouldn’t that be a boon to you? I hope you can get some relief from the issue (I’ve something similar with my left thumb….you’d be surprised just how much you use your thumb…even things like opening a fridge door….you brace your thumb against the other fingers, so I can’t imagine the wear and tear on your poor wrists).
We recently (like in the last month or two) implemented something that would let me do it, though it’s mostly for REALLY overdone eyeshadows like a metallic copper… that likely has 100+ close-enough shades to mention, but I try to make sure I’m adding at least 10 that I’ve specifically looked at!
This is such a simple but lovely little color story. I especially like #4.
Not bad, but for this price point I would much rather have something similar, yet more cohesive such as Tom Ford Nude Dip.
I’m not quite sure about this quad – love the pewter shade (Shade 4) and I can see it working with all the other shades in the palette. Not too keen on the inclusion of the peachy coloured one or the matte black (which seems too dark for the rest of the colours here).
What? You don’t like the matte black shadow? Quelle surprise!
Love shade #4!
I like this color story and that black looks lovely but my NW 13 ghostly self can’t even handle dark greys. Way too harsh for me. Beautiful for someone else
I love the second and fourth shade, like the black and dislike the orange.
For this price the quad needs to be perfect for me and this isn’t. I also wish they’d make the packaging a bit smaller and skip the applicators, but maybe the typical Guerlain customer wants the applicators, what do I know.
I’m going to study the dupes list for the shades I love in this and add the ones I like best to the WL.
The dupes list is such a great feature!
