Set Me Off

MAC Set Me Off Lipglass ($19.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium-dark, cool-toned plum with a hint of pink and flecks of larger gold sparkle with finer, lavender and plum pearl. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips.

The texture was light-medium in thickness, moderately sticky, though it did not seem heavy to me–plusher and thicker, though–that didn’t emphasize my lip lines. It wore well for five hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$21.00/0.1 oz. - $210.00 Per Ounce

The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.

I have found that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

Twinsies

MAC Twinsies Lipglass ($19.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, darker pinky-beige with subtle, warm undertones paired with a glossy, cream finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in as single layer, which applied fairly evenly, though it settled into my lip lines to some degree. The settling wasn’t as bad as I’ve experienced with these types of hues in a gloss-based formula, but it was enough to be noticeable in person depending on the lighting.

The consistency was smooth, light-medium in thickness, and tacky, so it had better longevity but may be “heavier” (though not heavy/goopy!) for those unfamiliar with Lipglass. The color lasted nicely for five hours and felt moisturizing while worn.
