Chanel Vert Khaki Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches (Fall 2010)

Crazy for Khaki!

There are two single eyeshadows included with the Chanel Les Contrastes de Chanel CollectionVert Khaki (khaki) and Taupe Grise (chocolate grey).  Each retails for $28.50 and contains 0.07 oz. of product.  I originally planned to review them together, but I adore Vert Khaki too much–it deserves its own post!

Confession time:  I ADORE OLIVE GREENS.  (Is it a confession if everybody already knows?  Guess not!)  No, but seriously, I totally have a thing for antique-y earth tones.  I’m so smitten over Vert Khaki as soon as I gazed down upon it… and then fell head-over-heels in love with it after swatching it.  It’s this beautiful concoction of darkened olive green with a metallic gold sheen and flashes of gold and emerald green shimmer.  Divine!  LOVE!

It has the same silky, soft texture of Chanel eyeshadow, and it’s richly pigmented and a little goes a long way.  It’s shimmering without being frosty, and it blends out beautifully with other shadows. Not the most affordable eyeshadow on the  market, but at least they don’t skimp on quantity–a little more than average.

I’m excited to try this over a gold base, just to bring out the golden tones in it!

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

Recommendation: If you’re a fan of smoky eyes, Chanel has you covered with the Enigma eyeshadow quad. It’s very dark and seductive, but it seems a little limited in its combinations.

Availability:  July 2010

Just got back from the Chanel counter the original Khaki and Vert Khaki are different. The Vert Khaki is deeper then the regular Khaki the regular Khaki has more of a brightness to it. I got the Quad and one of the shades in the quad looks like Vert Khaki to me extremly close so I did not feel like I needed Vert Khaki too. If you don’t get the Quad and you have the regular Khaki I thought Vert Khaki was different enough to pick up if you are a lover of olives plus it is limited edition. Also got Pink explosion blush, plum eyeliner, Paradoxal polish, Rose dentelle lipstick, Chalys lipstick . Coral Love and Rpse Dilemma lipgloss and Enigma quad I prefer the older Khaki to the newer Vert Khaki just because it looks better on my skin tone but both are wonderful

Hmm, yes to the Vert Khaki and no to the Taupe Gris…I think. The Khaki looks similar to Urban Decay Chains, but with more sparkle. I’m afraid to buy it, though, because the last thing I need is to move my makeup obsession up a price tier!

Right now, I’m not in the mood for this color at all! But it’s so hot outside! I feel like I might be in love with this by autumn. My serious Chanel weakness makes me want this regardless. Luckily I don’t own a color like this…not even close. So it would be worth it. Yay!

I am wild about olives so Vert Khaki is right up my alley. Olive shadows are amazing with hazel eyes. I am with Deb though, the Taupe Gris is pretty blah for me.

I have been craving for some taupes and khakis lately and what do you know, Google brought me here as usual 😛 I think I will be picking up these two. They will be my first Chanel shadows – so far I only have the Chanel waterproof eyeliners.
