Urban Decay Ocho Loco 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set ($59.00 for 0.32 oz.) includes eight shades: Hustle (medium brown metallic), Junkie (teal with bright gold shimmer), LSD (navy with bright turquoise shimmer), Mushroom (taupe-pewter metallic), Perversion (blackest-black matte), Psychedelic Sister (bright purple shimmer), Rockstar (darkest eggplant), and Stash (dark green/gold). It also includes Grindhouse, which is a sharpener.
- Hustle is a medium-dark brown with subtly warm undertones and bronze sparkle and sheen. It has good pigmentation in a single pass. Chanel Brun-Cuivre is just a touch darker with a red undertone. Urban Decay Bourbon has less sparkle and a stronger red undertone. MAC Lord It Up is darker.
- Junkie is a blue-based teal with gold and teal sparkle. It has decent color payoff in a single pass but needs to be layered to pop. Tarina Tarantino Spark of Envy is greener and has no sparkle. MAC Undercurrent is exactly the same.
- LSD is a blackened navy blue with lighter blue sparkle. The color payoff was rather disappointing, and you definitely need to go back and forth to get decent opacity. MAC Petrol Blue is much, much richer and bluer. MAC Industrial is a bit lighter.
- Mushroom is a gray-brown taupe with a shimmer-sheen. The pigmentation in a single go is decent. Urban Decay Underground was the only possible dupe I could think of, but it is much browner.
- Perversion is a rich, deep black with a matte finish. It has good color payoff in a single pass. MAC Black Black, MAC Feline, Giorgio Armani #1 are all very similar.
- Psychedelic Sister is a medium violet purple with subtle pink-red undertones and a soft sheen. The color payoff was good, and for a purple, noteworthy. MAC Designer Purple is a smidgen darker and has sparkle. MAC Rich Purple is darker, less pink.
- Rockstar is a dark eggplant purple with burgundy shimmer. It has good pigmentation in one pass. Chanel Cassis is matte. Urban Decay Crash is very comparable.
- Stash is an olive-green with antique gold shimmer. The color payoff is really good in a single go. MAC Buried Treasure is slightly darker. Stila Moray is a bit greener.
If you’ve ever wanted to try Urban Decay’s eyeliners or you enjoy them and want more of them, grabbing this set is a brilliant way to go, because you’re getting $162 worth of product for $59. Grindhouse is the only sharpener I actually use; it’s a dual-sharpener so you can sharpen both regular eyeliners as well as the jumbo-sized pencils. I use it for Urban Decay’s eyeliners as well as any other eyeliner or jumbo-sized pencil I need sharpened. Each eyeliner is full-sized, and normally, full-sized eyeliners retail for $19. Not all of these shades are available individually, so if you want shades like Hustle, LSD, Mushroom, Psychedelic Sister, or Junkie, you’re going to have to pick this up.
The formula is good overall, though pigmentation tends to be mostly opaque, some shades do fall short. All shades in this set are buildable, so you can get opaque color if desired, just not necessarily in one pass. The least pigmented shades from this set were Junkie and LSD. The most pigmented shades were Perversion, Rockstar, and Stash. I usually get around eight hours with no fading or smudging with Urban Decay’s eyeliner formula, and I’ve been wearing them for years. All eight shades felt creamy and glided across the skin easily without skipping.

Thank you again for all your hard work Christine! As I already have the 15th anniversary set, the main draws for me were Psychedlic Sister and Junkie. Confirming they are dupes/near dupes for the comparable Pearlglide liners makes skipping the kit so much easier for me!
I do wish UD would consider releasing the new colors on their own. Despite it being a near dupe, I’d probably still pick up Psychedelic Sister because of the lack of sparkle in it. Oh well.

If these liners lasted on me, I might be seriously interested in this collection although it’s probably more liners and several shades I’d never use and I shudder to think about the price in Canada, assuming they become available at Sephora. I agree with you about the Grindhouse sharpener – it’s the best I’ve tried.

I love the Gosh cosmetics Velvet liners (or something like that…I can never remember the name). They last and last, come in great colours and cost much less than UD. Lise Watier, a Canadian company, makes really excellent pencil liners too but I find GOSH to be longer wearing and cheaper as well. I do also like some of the MAC liners.
I wish I could find GOSH here! I know you can buy online, but I’m always hesitant to buy sight unseen for a brand I’ve never used!
I meant to add that I do want to try Tarina Tarantino pencils, based on your reviews and also how thrilled I am with the eye shadows I’ve tried from her line. I just have to figure out what colour I’d like and for which I don’t already have a similar liner.

Also, do you think that Stray Dog could be a possible dupe for Mushroom? I’m wearing it now, and it on my skin looks a lot like Mushroom on yours.
Stray Dog is browner on me, whereas Mushroom is grayer! If you have cooler undertones, maybe that’s why it’s appearing less brown?
I just received mine today and immediately started color swatching lol. The only color I plan to give away is Perversion…only because I had just got a back up about a week ago…before realizing I ALREADY had a back up hidden in my stash lol. As much as I love it I really have no need for 3 backups. The colors are gorgeous and honestly…it’s well worth it even if you only want a couple of them (8 liners for around the price of 3). You can always gift the ones you don’t want/need…
I also agree that they should come out with a liquid set. If enough noise is made they just might listen. Food for thought…

I usually don’t either. The only liner I have ever come close to using up has been Perversion, which is the only reason I bought a backup (but like I said, apparently I had done so before without realizing it lol). Usually, I end up tossing liners long before they can get used up. For whatever reason, I fell in love with Perversion and how it made my eyes look (even on a no true makeup day…which is most days lol. I put on a little of it and a nude gloss and I’m set). To be totally honest, I can’t think of a single makeup product that I’ve ever used up…except for my go-to Chocolate lip liner and even that takes a long time to do.
MUST. HAVE. This is such a steal! I think Stash is really lovely.

It’s had to say with UD – sometimes they add them… but not all the time and not always often. There might still be more kits for the holidays coming, though I don’t know (I’m just going off of what they’ve launched in the past).

I think I need this set in my life. Totally in love with 6 of the 8 colors. I like LSD and Junkie the least. But the other 6 needs to be in my makeup stash! I never tried Urban Decay’s liners before so I’m glad Christine you included they glide across the eyes easily!

Laura, I agree about Stray Dog and Mushroom – I love Underground but it’s just a tiny bit too light for me and Stray Dog stands out a little more.
Has anyone compared Stray Dog with Mushroom yet? I’d be curious to know which one has more brown (as opposed to gray/silver) and which is darker.
I really like the looks of this set and for the price, I think it’s a wonderful deal. I will seriously contemplate purchasing this set despite the fact I do not seem to wear coloured eyeliner very often. I typically use eyeshadow or black/brown MAC fluidline.
A lot of the shades in this one are kind of darker – so maybe it’s a good way to add more colored eyeliner without being like OOH! pink.

If not for Junkie, LSD and Psychedelic, I might have considered this palette. I just really don’t like blue/green/purple liners. Sorry but OT, have you reviewed any gold glosses/lipsticks? I could have sworn you did but the Swatch gallery does not have ‘gold’ as a colour you can sort by…and the category ‘other’ yields no gold results…Thanks.
True gold would most likely be under “other,” and if not, I would say probably under “peach” or “sheer” (for gloss). Bobbi Brown’s Canary is the only one I can think of.
Rockstar looks absolutely gorgeous! But is there too much shimmer for the waterline? Anyway, love your blog!
I don’t know if it’s listed as safe for the waterline, though I believe I’ve used it myself (but I have no idea how anyone else might react).
I haven’t had a problem with using it on the waterline, as infrequently as I do!
I’ve never had problems using Rockstar on the waterline, though it doesn’t stay there (for me, at least) in a solid way for very long. It’s a pretty muted colour, imo, which is probably why I rarely use it.
I’m getting the fun palette because I’ve been wanting a backup of Deep End. I’m sad that I’m passing on the liners. I have some of them from the Anniversary set and I have and love the Mac dupes of the new liners.

I wish UD would release Mushroom and Psychedelic sister as invidiual liners, I already have the four that are not new, and while I love them I do have a good amount left of them, for now anyway. LSD was a huge letdown, I was expecting something amazing from that one…:( I will say rockstar and junkie are really pretty and wear well. Perversion doesn’t stay on my waterline very well, but if I wear it elsewhere it’s perfectly fine. And stash isn’t really my type of color, so I would just give it away. But I really, really want Mushroom and Psychedelic Sister…ahh, I’m torn.
That’s definitely a tough one 🙁 Maybe if you have the right number of people to give them away to for holiday gifts?
Ha ha, tell me about it. Have you tried to layer LSD? Maybe it would show up better that way? I’m not sure, but I knew if that shade was as much as I hoped for, I would 100% buy this set. As of now, I’m still unsure but I really do love mushroom and psychedelic sister, and some of the previous shades I really like, as well. I might still get it.

Sad to say this is a pass for me. I think the value is amazing but this set doesn’t work for me for a few reasons. The biggest is that I do not wear brown eyeliner, ever, not for any reason, second being I already have 3 perversions and I have Junkie and the Mac dupe of it. That said I like really bright colourful liners anyway, like the electric set of liners from last year, so I think I’ll be passing on these.
I definitely want Mushroom and not the others. I’m sure I’ll be able to get it as a single on ebay.
These look just like the Loreal HIP pencils that were discontinued. Dont know if this is a go for me…

This is really pretty! And I like that half of the shades are exclusive to this set. Mushroom looks like a “normal” pencil version of the Juju 24/7 shadow pencil, which I love.

I wanted to know your opinion. I was considering these, but UD pencils never stay on my wasterline unless I set with an eyeshadow, so I was considering just stocking up on Tarina Tarantino liners instead…What’s your opinion, would you buy this or build your Tarina Tarantino liner stash instead?
Tough… I like colored eyeliner, so I’d probably still grab this set, because the formula wears well on me and most of these shades are unlikely to be safe for the waterline, so at the price point, it’s a good deal.

How is the formula compared to MAC’s pearlglide eyeliners? I LOVE MAC’s formula & colors, so creamy.

I don’t have it, but that’s one of the shades I absolutely LOVE. How is it different from the swatch (if you don’t mind me asking)?
A lot of the colors look lighter here than in previous posts or real life, but they’re all a big lighter, at least on my screen. I’m not sure if Christine changed lighting or if they changed the shades. And junkie is definitely darker than the swatch above, not crazy darker but it’s much more vibrant and jewel toned in real life, at least the one I have.

It also could be the angle of the which the photo was taken. If your a blogger or know anything about taking photos, you would know that at different angles the color of a shimmer or shine product can appear lighter or darker.

They will be, but I don’t have an exact date!
They don’t smudge on me, but I know they’re not 100% that way for everyone. I have normal-to-dry lids if that helps, though I wear eyeliner mostly on my lower lash line!
Would Mushroom maybe also compare to UD stray dog?

Do you think that this set is better or worse that the Urban Decay 15 anniversary set? I really wish that Urban decay would make Midnight Cowboy, Baked, and Corrupt again. I think that UD lacks these colors in their current range.
I think the 15th was a bit better, but it was also a lot more expensive. I think this price point is a bit more palatable.

Hey Christine, can u suggest me a black eyeliner that doesnt smudge on the waterline….i previously purchased mac smolder eye kohl…i love the deepness of the black bt it just ends up everywhere and on the outer eyelids after 10 mins….any other mac eyeliner that act stays on or what about ud perversion?

A brand called prestige cosmetics have pencils also made in germany and they are a fraction of the price. I hear the intensity kind are the best in their range and their most expensive
I was goin to pass on “Crazy 8”, however i’m so glad I decided to nab it as I really like it! I’m crazy over “Stash” which is the most gorg
antique-y goldey green. I needed a refill on that as well as Rockstar, and Perv ( don’t really care for the name). Also I must admitt I wanted the set partially for the Grindhouse! They recently changed the sharpener it is not a flat square, where as the grindhouse has the bubble lid which holds more pencil shavings.
I suggest this set, it will last you a long time!
