Wow that is very wasteful packaging.
Speaking of microplastics in the ocean, mountains, rivers, and clouds…. I got an Amazon package that I intended to bring back to Kohl’s return because it way empty. Not so!! There is a 1” x 2” folded over, flat paper in side the envelope. The plastic bubble-wrap enhanced envelope is bigger than 10 x 15. Huge overkill for the landfill. Anyone remember Dustin Hoffman in the Graduate? He’s done with college and all the older men are giving him job advice. ‘PLASTICS, BEN, PLASTICS!’ Look where that way of thinking got us.
Shares look really interesting but this packaging… Am I the only one not feeling the packaging/applicator?
*Shades, not shares – sorry
I am not feeling it either. I don’t like the look, and there would be so many corners where you would never be able to get the product out.
You are not alone! I suspect that after a bit of use, once there’s less product in there, it’s going to be one of those annoying bottles where you’ll squeeze and squeeze and squeeze and get nothing until -BLORP- you get way more product than you needed.
Radiation berry? 🙂
Looks cute, bit gimmicky maybe? Product looks a bit gritty or is it full of sparkles?
Yeah, that texture is off-putting to me, too. Actual grit or gritty sparkle, neither of which sound appealing…
Every single color is gorgeous! I can’t wait to see your review on them!
It looks like they’ve abandoned most of their lip products, I loved the Amuse Bouche lipsticks! It’s been a long time with no replacement.
Oh, no! I have a niece who has celiac disease and she loved their lipsticks. If it isn’t certified gluten-free, she refuses to let it into her house. Bite’s lipsticks were certified. I guess it’s better to find out now than in late November! Why would they do that?
The shades, while limited, look lovely but that packaging looks like a disaster; I see it being difficult to get the product out.
I know I already inveighed against packaging, but you are spot on. Waste would be magnified given the shape of the base. Cut the tip and the product is doomed to dry/crap out. No tool would fit into the contours. I’m all for artsy fartsy, but not at the expense of pragmatic quality. Actually, the shape will go a long ways towards requiring quicker repurchase, as it dries in the drawer.
Bite should have stuck with lips.
I said it so others don’t have to.
Hahahahahaha…I like that
Dear Bite,
I don’t want whipped cream blushes, I want my lipsticks back.
Love, AJ
Yes, so much this, AJ!
Hallelujia!
Those shades are so beautiful! I love the watermelon one. Hopefully they live up to expectations!
I suspect most readers/consumers miss bite lip products. Virtually dropping their DISTINCTIVE COMPETENCY for base products and blush? I get that for CP. But bite positioned itself as a lipstick co, not as a colored cosmetics line. At first it was basically only red and nude lips, to boot. Their projected growth just confuses me. Example: Just because I like my Mitsubishi television, should I trust getting a Mitsubishi truck? Makes me want to say ‘Canadians ought to know better.’ ….. There’s a general perception in New England that Canadians always get it right…..
I’m a Vermonter, and never encountered that perception about Canadians.
Interested in the bronze. Fingers crossed I can use these on my skin. So maddening that “clean beauty” is 100% a marketing gimmick that doesn’t even have a universal standard. All of the junk, none of the preservatives, and the handful of us with silicone sensitivities are left out in the cold. But who knows? I’ve always liked Bite and root for them to come out with something good.
Totally agree! Kosas and Milk are also ”clean” but contain crap and microplastics, it sucks so bad that there are no proper definitions!
1. ENOUGH, BITE! Just give me lipstick back already.
2. While those colors look pretty and they give me BECCA cheek souffle vibes, that packaging it just awful. No. Just no.
So much product is going to get stuck and it’s going to do that weird “bloop” thing where you have to squeeze and squeeze get the product down past any air gaps. This needed to be in a click and twist push-up style applicator like the Maybelline Age Rewind concealers or a jar like the old BECCA souffles. At least they made the bottom flat so it will stand up on a counter. I recently bought a Korean skincare product in similar packaging but completely rounded edges and hate how much counter-space it takes because it has to lay flat on its side.
I might pick one up half price later this summer after they go on clearance once every realizes how horrible the packaging is and they don’t sell, but definitely not paying full-price or rushing out to get it.
Don’t know about this one. Only 4 shades, with two looking purple/lavender? Weird looking packaging, too.
As a blush enthusiast, I can’t help but be so uninterested it hurts. Ever since the re-do, I haven’t bought a single thing from them in mourning of their specializing in lipsticks. I get that for brands to survive, they have to cater to the common consumer and what their values. But god, this really highlights just how boring Bite has become.
That’s a weird shade range and the packaging looks annoying, like it would be really hard to get any product out once it’s halfway gone. Will definitely be skipping.
Hmmm – no corals here and I think this will prove to be a very wasteful kind of packaging.
I have thought for a while that Sephora “encouraged” Bite into diversifying, which is why we still haven’t gotten new lipsticks, and every time they drop new things that are not lipstick I feel more confident. Sephora needed a brand with clout that ticked trendy boxes–vegan, cruelty free, clean, etc. Otherwise, the years-long absence of a diverse lipstick line that they already had in the name of eliminating honey or whatever just does not make sense.
Anyway, these look cute, but the market is saturated with cute trendy cream blushes. High quality lipsticks like the Luminous Cream and Amuse Bouche aren’t as common, and they are sorely missed, but at this point, they are yanking us around. They are so easy to forget about as a brand when they used to be a true cult classic. It is sad to see.
The colors look beautiful, but like everyone else who has commented the packaging is a real turn off. I like to scoop the product when it gets low or use as much of it as possible (to get my money’s worth), but these tubes(?) don’t look like they can be cut with scissors. I think Bite was trying to be edgy about the packaging design when consumers now want sustainable (as much as possible) packaging.
I think these kinda look cheap and the shade range is very dull
Interesting people have such a strong reaction to the packaging. Can’t you put it upside down to get the last bit out? Like lotion?
I have their mascara and it’s excellent. I’m not sure why people think they should stick to lipsticks! Lol
I saw them and was kind of interested, then I read the comments and wondered if I’m supposed to not be interested! I do look forward to seeing the swatches.
Yes! Lol I look forward to them. I’ve liked everything I’ve purchased from them. I haven’t used their foundation a lot tho.
For once I hope these promo photos are not the most color accurate. Two purple based blushes and two brown based blushes as the only 4 they’re offering? No coral, pink, red, or orange? I guess I didn’t realize the market was so strong for purple blush! I agree that the texture of these isn’t the most attractive to look at. It makes these look thick and gritty.
I would be interested in cracking open that component and seeing the inside.
I so badly wish these were matte or satin instead of glittery/shimmery, because I want more purple blush options so badly. =(
