We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I use MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork pretty much every day. It stays perfectly in place until I take it off, so that’s about 15 hours on a work day.
No wonder you are so tired Seraphine – your work day is so long.
Well, the 15 hours include 45 minutes of drive time twice a day, 8.5 hours in the office, and the time between getting home and actually going to bed. Taking off my makeup is the last thing I do.
I ALWAYS wear a primer of some sort, and a setting powder on top, and even then, I usually get creasing after maybe 4 hours, depending on the shadow formula. I’ve had good experiences with some of the new formulas (About Face, Danessa Myricks), which don’t crease on me if the layer is thin enough.
I always use primer and it lasts my full. Workday which is 15-16 hrs. No problemo— I use Mac paint pot or hourglass eye primer.
OMG Janine – you work such long hours! You must be exhausted when you get home!
Yes I am! At the hospital we run our legs off! Good news is it is only 3-4 days a week. Such is the life of a nurse😊
Because I always use a primer, my shadows almost always last until I remove them some 12+ hours after applying them.
I haven’t had issue in many years, eyeshadow lasts all day for me, until I remove it. But I haven’t tried any new products in many years, I just stick to the eye primers I like (ABH and MAC) and my custom made palette.
Back when I was working 12 hour shifts at the hospital, I wanted my eye looks to really last and I always used a primer or a MAC Paintpot, usually Painterly or Groundwork. After retirement it doesn’t matter as much and a lot of days that I apply makeup, I don’t even leave the house. I do it for the pure enjoyment of doing it and the satisfaction of doing something artistic. I usually don’t use a typical primer these days but always apply either my foundation or concealer before eye shadow as my eyelids are a bit splotchy and I want an even canvas to “paint” on.
Most of my eyeshadows, sans primer, do last for several hours, but with primer they last longer before fading. For a normal day when I am not doing anything special or going anywhere special, that is fine. It’s because I have followed your blog and purchased only those eyeshadow palettes that are of excellent quality.
Because I always wear a base underneath, I get around 10+ hours if needed. However, I can get some creasing or misplacement/transference if my weird eye tearing acts up from wind or allergies or worse, BOTH.
Am I satisfied with this? Because I never know what sort of makeup day I will wind up with, not 100%. Thankfully, with a jumbo waterproof pencil which depends more on waxes than silicones, many times I can gingerly push the shadow back into place, but I usually carry the inner and mid lid shades with me JIC. It’s an extra step that I really wish that I didn’t need to take!
I usually wear eye primer, either Nars or Hourglass, and get abt 10 hours of wear. I put Nars Pro-Prime to the test last weekend as I spent a good 15 min outside while Tropical Storm Ophelia raged in full makeup (and formal dress, 4 inch heels & umbrella) trying to track down the Uber to get to a wedding and right before the driver pulled up, a city bus flew by and sprayed me. Through it all, my eye makeup held up beautifully…although not my hair or my new suede heels
I think the quality of the products that are produced now are superior in quality, I have very oily eyelids and I have no issues with the products migrating or fading, I do use a setting spray but no primer.
