Single Eyeshadows

I think you can get really creative if you’re someone who’ll purchase individual eyeshadows, since they’re a great way to fill in gaps in one’s collection or to get unusual shades (often from indies). The downside is figuring out how to organize them in a way that makes them most useful.

Larger Eyeshadow Palettes

Anything over 15 is what I’d consider to be larger, and they’re okay, but when you start to get to 30+ shades, I find they are overwhelming and get redundant.

Limited Edition Products

They give brands a chance to play around and release products that may not fit as well with the brand’s core identity or make sense to have 24/7. On the flip side, they can sometimes feel like they’ve received less effort when they’re lower quality or it gets frustrating when a brand releases mostly limited edition products and has no real permanent range.

Tinted Moisturizer

I think if I wasn’t blogging, I’d reach for it more often as part of a regular routine. I love the idea of just quickly applying and going about my day with a little bit of coverage to help even out my skin tone but not have the full effect of higher coverage foundation.

Full Coverage Foundation

If anything, I am more likely to be heavy-handed than light-handed, so I prefer more medium, buildable foundation as I’m more likely to go overboard with full coverage. I love that exists for when you want to fully cover up any unevenness/discoloration of skin. It can be more challenging to get the right shade match with full coverage foundation.

Sparkly Products

I’ve found that slightly flatter sparkle particles tend to adhere better to skin, whether in eyeshadow or cheek form, and I love the effect of sparkle in general, so when it’s flatter and with a more emollient/thicker base product, it can be beautiful. I’m not a fan of too much fallout during wear, though, as it can be irritating! I’m not as fussed about light migration from a cheek product, though.

Red Lipstick

I love it! It’s such a bold and powerful shade. I tend to prefer a more luminous red over a fully matte red, so it has to feel comfortable but not be prone to feathering/bleeding.

Gold Highlighters

I love warmer gold highlighters on myself more than cooler-toned ones (which are often more white gold or have a cooler gold-warmer gold shift a la NARS Albatross). I find gold to work well on my skin tone and pair well with a lot of blushes/bronzers, too.

Lipstick Sets

I love trying a greater variety in shades for the cost of one or two lipsticks, but since most sets offer mini or travel-sized products, they are more prone to breaking at the base.

Holiday Collections

I love some of the more value-packed sets, as it can be a nice way to try more shades while spending less per product (and how many of us finish products in full?). I think sometimes holiday collections get stale, though, as brands include the same shades (or nearly the same) each year. I also love red lipstick, gold in most forms, and sparkle, so… holiday is a good time to shine.
