I’d rather unscented–something that is inoffensive and not aggressively fragranced as if I want fragrance, I’ll put it on separately!

I have Rosacea, perfume is like putting acid on my face! I wish cosmetic companies would learn that irritation is not skin care!
Scented face products are definitely something I’m NOT in to! Nor fragranced eyeshadow, either. Either variety is actually a major turnoff for me.
I have ultra sensitive, reactive and acne prone skin with occasional eczema flare ups (it’s as fun as it sounds) and some fragrance, specifically fragrant essential oils, have caused awful reactions so I stick to fragrance free skincare and makeup. I just have to make sure I check the ingredients lists before I buy anything. I don’t like fragrance in body care products either because I want my perfume to compete with my moisturizer or body wash.
Same. I can tolerate a certain amount of scent in a cream or other products that I use on my face, but I’d prefer not to have them odor wise and potential reaction wise. I found out that for example that Too Faced eyeshadows aren’t best for persons with allergies or eye sensitivity by trial and error on an older family member. She had irritation around the eyes when I used that brand of eyeshadow versus any of my other ones, as whenever I didn’t use TF, she had no issues, so I figured it must be the scents (perfumes) in them versus the others,
Scented face products sometimes cause issues for my eyes. I definitely prefer unscented!
I hate fragranced face products. HATE them. Some are so strong I’m getting whiffs hours after applying or they’re so strong they interfere with my sense of taste.
I thought that opinion would be widespread, but I’ve seen many, many, many reviews where people comment that a face product has a “nice scent” and how they enjoy it or comments on how someone feels that a high end product should have a nice scent to it so clearly there are plenty out there who like fragrance in face products lol
I really dislike scented face products, not only because the scent factor can be an irritant to sensitive skins, but often the scent itself can be overpowering or overwhelming.
I think it is an added extra that should be removed. If you want something scented – there is always perfume!
Exactly! I’m with you. If I want fragrance I’ll spray it on or bathe in it. I bought one gorgeous Chanel blush ages ago and while pretty, the rose? or whatever scent, sent me to the bathroom with a migraine. So, no, no fragrance near my face.
I love anything with the scent(s) of cucumber, coconut, lavender or magnolia. That being said, unless it’s a naturally occurring scent as a byproduct of one of the ingredients, I’d prefer not. I love YSL’s mascara but why fragrance it??
I have a blush that smells like roses and it is very nice because it’s not overpowering, after you apply it you can’t smell it anymore. So something along that line is fine for me. Anything that is going to be close to your nose better agree with you otherwise you will be washing it off. So usually I don’t try to buy anything with scents in it that I put on my face.
I absolutely don’t like scents in face products; even if it’s a pleasant scent, I just don’t like smelling something during makeup application and while I’m wearing makeup.
Sometimes I get a whiff of a product and it smells like grandma….and not in a good way…I prefer unscented also….
Unless it Bain de Soleil which always makes me think of Summer….
I don’t mind scents in face products unless it’s overpowering, I do prefer products unscented though.
I am in the minority but I like many scented face products, specifically the delicate floral scents that some high end face powders contain. I love the smell of Guerlain (especially the old Joli Teints, of which I still have a couple shades) and Givenchy powders, for instance, and the old rose scent of Chanel blushes. I don’t like products that smell like food, though. I was on the fence about the scent of the Too Faced Peach Blur compact. Some days I like it, some days not.
Up until two years ago I had an iron clad skincare routine that worked just fine, even with my rosacea. No silicones, no problems. Then all of a sudden I had ANGRY red dermatitis patches on my face, my eyelids. They looked like *burns* they were so bad. It came on suddenly when trying new cosmetics – Rituel de Fille – and I chalked it up to contamination/lack of preservatives (ultimately leading to contamination) or just too heavy and gooey of a formula to go on my skin. As it turns out fragrance is a nightmare on my skin. Essential oils create exactly the same response as synthetic fragrance oils. So, lesson of the day is that a “natural” source of fragrance is meaningless. Fragrance is fragrance and it’s gonna dermatitis up my face.
There is no reason to have scented cosmetics. Definitely a deal breaker for me.
