What are your favorite neutral eyeshadow palettes?

This week’s topic is BEST NEUTRAL EYESHADOW PALETTES — the 2019 edition!  In late 2017, we asked for and have recommendations for the best neutral eyeshadow palettes, but given that the number of palettes released each year has been more and more, I wanted to open up a fresh recommendation so that it better reflected more recent releases (as well as old favorites).  If you participated in the original recommendation, you’ll want to share your recommendations, both new and old, here.

Best Neutral Eyeshadow Palettes | The Top 10

The list below shows the top 10 most recommended neutral eyeshadow palettes, and I haven’t restricted the top 10 by anything like permanent vs. limited edition (though you can view a list of the top 10 permanent eyeshadow palettes here). The list will automatically update as more recommendations are made!

You can view the full list of recommendations here, where you can refine the results by things like price, skin type, skin tone, and so on to get a list of the best recommendations for your coloring. You can also share your own recommendations.

ABOUT THE RECOMMENDATIONS

The Temptalia community is enthusiastic, honest, and diverse, so crowd-sourcing top picks from our readers is an excellent way to keep track of and organize the answers from our weekly “Hit List” post, which has typically asked for readers favorite [fill-in-the-blank].  Instead of scanning through comments, everyone’s answer(s) get saved to the Recommendations Database along with pertinent information like skin tone or skin type (as applicable).

We invite you to share your own recommendations, and if you think you might be making recommendations often, consider registering and filling out your profile as the form will pre-fill with your profile information for you each time!

Thank you for taking the time to add your recommendations to our database! 🙂

Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

The neutral shadows that look best on me are always cool toned. My current favorite palettes to use for a neutral eye look are Smashbox Cover Shot Punked, Natasha Denona Mini Lila, Colourpop Fame, and Dior Backstage Cool. I love them all and don’t know which is my favorite!

I used to love Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics and Bare Minerals Bare Sensuals, but I haven’t used either of them in a very long time. The neutral palette I’m currently coveting is Marc Jacobs Steel(etto). Will I be able to keep resisting it? Maybe not, if it’s still around the next time there’s a sale.

I honestly wish UD had never discontinued the original Naked Palette. It was the palette that started the trend that continues on today, something like 10 years later, and it’s because is really was the “game changer” product that really met the needs of so many makeup users.

When I see that I have 12 of the first 14 mentioned, huh?? Well, there are some differences in warm to cool but I guess I really have enough neutral palettes.
My favorite is the Sultry, though.

I still like my Sigma Warm Neutrals II Palette. If I don’t use it for a while I’m always surprisingly astonished how beautiful the shades are.

Judging by some of the recommendations on the list some people are reading over the “neutral” descriptor and going straight to “favorite palette” as I’m seeing lots of pinky/purpley palettes that definitely have strong red tones throughout all the shades.
