MAC Face and Body Foundation. The OG formulation. Bought at a CCO. I don’t know how the reformulation compares. I never thought my oily skin could handle it so I never tried. Wish I had. It looks so good on my skin. Stays put. Looks skin like. Doesn’t crease, fade or slide off. It’s fantastic. I get the hype. I want to try the new formula!

It sound lovely. I may have to pick up a sample when I am in Seattle. I am sampling a lot of foundations these days. I have decided not to compromise and keep going until I find the one that is absolutely right. If you are going to pay upwards of $50 for a foundation, it should tick all the boxes on your score card, I think. I haven’t heard anything about the reformulated foundation but I know that for a lot of people it was their HG foundation.

This is going to sound a little weird but the Chanel Les Beige Water Fresh Tint. Right after I started getting back into makeup, I started buying quite a lot of Asian cushion foundations and even purchased the very expensive Dior cushion. I really started my journey back by buying skincare and that led me back to the whole cushion foundation search. I have about 15 of them, all open and I was trying to make each one work and while they are all good, there was something not right with each of them and I didn’t feel like committing to any of them. Then I started watching a YT channel where they woman is similar in complexion to me and the first video I watched of hers she was using the Chanel tint. She has beautiful skin and said that the tint had barely any coverage. I immediately decided it wasn’t for me. I do have quite a lot to cover. She talked a lot about embracing our imperfections and so while I was in Spokane taking my daughter to the airport, I stopped at Nordstrom’s and picked it up. I was immediately concerned as it only comes in about 5 shades. How could you actually cover the whole spectrum of skin shades and tones with only 5 shades. The assistant said that because it was so sheer it lets your own skin show through and for that reason it is somewhat universal in tint. Again, misgivings entered my head. I bought it anyway and didn’t use it for quite some time. I then saw quite a few older women use it and tried it. I really like it although I do wish it had just a smidge more coverage. It is very light on the skin. It doesn’t sink into my wrinkles and it actually wears really well. I don’t have to powder it down although I do in a couple of strategic places. It is very, very light coverage. I plan to purchase the Touch version this week as it is suppose to have a little more coverage with the same pigment technology.

When you go to Spokane Sephora, check out the Rose Inc. version. The idea, if not the specific formula, is the same. There are 14 shades, so it doesn’t have to be as ‘forgiving.’ The only cushion I have is KGD. My shade was the ‘darkest’ on the cool side, and I’m about a NW 15. That cushion has light, but far more coverage than the water tints. I like the Rose water tint and concealer. I resisted the ‘suspended sphere’ type product, but then tried the Jane Iredale version. Lots more pigment in a more viscous base. Now that I made them all seem gross, I guess my work here is done, lol.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will check it out. I got the Rituel de Fille serum foundation sample set in the mail yesterday and plan to try it while I am in Seattle over the weekend. It is oil based, I think. They sell you three shade samples for like $15 so I got all of the lightest shades in each of the undertones so Fair Cool, Fair Warm and Fair Neutral. I am waiting until I get to Seattle so my daughter can tell me which undertone she thinks will be the best. I think an oil would work for me since I am pretty dry but won’t know until I test it. The reason I really like the water tint is that it really doesn’t settle into my lip lines. Almost all of the others did. I don’t know why those are different than my other lines but the ones above my lip and the tiny ones in my lower eyelid close to my tear duct always seem to fill with either foundation or concealer. The Water Fresh didn’t for some reason. I will let you know how I get on with the Rose Inc. I had never heard of them before coming back on the blog and so I picked up a blush when my daughter and I were in Vancouver and it is very nice but I didn’t pay any attention to the other products.
I don’t mind the pigment suspended spheres except that it it one additional step having to blend it on your hand or a palette before going to the skin.
