Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Collection for Spring/Summer 2012

Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Collection for Spring/Summer 2012

Human Fundamentalism is an explosion of your alter ego. It’s becoming who you are and not who you’re told to be. Beauty isn’t conformity, but the fundamental human desire to express your inner self on the outside. To rise above mainstream limitations and exist in a world where individuality is received with celebration not derision, and breaking the mould is a sign of strength not instability.

We stand for freedom of expression, embracing our glorious imperfections and showing the world we’re not ordinary but extraordinary, even if society refuses to accept it. We’re beyond conformity. Beyond control. Beyond hiding who we really are. We are not a religion, but the singular opposite. We are Illamasqua.

“Human Fundamentalism is the unique spirit and fundamental human drive for individuality. It’s a belief, a movement and an emotion. A connection with the spirit of the age and its global motifs. You are your own human hybrid, a unique nomad of street cultures and global trends.” — Alex Box, Illamasqua Creative Director.

Get ready for a startling celebration of humanity’s connection with colour. Introducing the Human Fundamentalism collection, where blinding flashes of pigment provide a sharp contrast to neutral tones, creating a saturated palette that catapults your alter ego to new levels of self-expression. Mix contrasting textures to express your true self, spiraling from rich metallic to pale matte shades. This is nonconformity at its most fundamental. At its unpredictable best.

”Human Fundamentalism to me is physical expression of your self-belief, sharing your opinions with colour that shape the narrative of your thoughts and inner self. It is a statement of conviction and colour confidence, it states, this is me and now see what I see, be tinted by how I express colour and behold an oblivion to social convention and constraints.” — David Horne, Illamasqua Director of New Product Development.

Fundamental Palette ($42.50)

The Fundamental Palette is a playground for self-expression. Experiment with contrasting textures, from glistening Liquid Metal in molten pewter to matt Cream Pigment in mint green, to express every inch of your alter ego. Coupled with two vibrant Powder Eye Shadows in Hype (Bold Yellow) and Inception (Rich Violet) this palette demands bold levels of nonconformity.

Neutral Palette ($42.50)

Create sculpted highlights and stark contours anywhere on your face and body with these four fundamental Powder Shadows. From new matt shades in Stealth (Creamy Buttermilk), Wolf (Chocolate Brown) and Vintage (Antiqued Gold) – a shade exclusive to this palette – to the glistening metallic accents of Obsidian (Rich Black), express your inner light and darkness in a rich riotous glamour.

Precision Ink ($27.50)

Subvert expectations and highlight the unconventional, creating white-lined eyes and white-out brows with Precision Ink’s super-fine tip. By EU only do you mean they’re just not releasing it at Sephora or that you cannot get it shipped to the US at all? Because I’ve been able to pre-order a few of the things you’ve marked as such and I live in Chicago

Alex Avatar

It means you cant buy it in the US. I believe it is because the pigments go against the FDA. You will not be able to buy these online from the website in the US. (at least not directly)

Dormouse Avatar

I attempted to buy one of their loose shimmer powders from the Illamasqua website. (I live in the US.) Their website wouldn’t allow me to purchase it. Interestingly enough, this shade turned out to be sold from Sephora in the US.

Mar Avatar

I love that they now have quad palettes! And the blue purple ligloss? Want! Can’t wait for this! But the lipstick I am most interested in, Apocalips, is EU only! 🙁

Lorena Avatar

I always love the looks Illamasqua creates. They’re definitely a treat to my imagination, even if part of me wants to wear the whole thing!

Bonnie Avatar

Ooooo! I love Illamasqua’s promo images, and I love their makeup. I like to experiment with unusual makeup, but am pretty limited in what I can do for work… can’t do anything too crazy. I wish I lived in a world where makeup like this was acceptable for day-to-day life.
Also, it sucks that certain Illamasqua products aren’t able to be sold in the US.

Tempest Paige Avatar

Of course the teal lipstick is Europe only! 🙁 just my luck. Definitely gonna pick up a pallete and nailpolish! And a white precision ink! Yay.

Dominique Avatar

Illamasqua reminds me of Shakespearian Theatre along with many other inspirations of that kind. This collection is gorgeous, what dramatic colours once again ! We don’t have Illamasqua here but great it’s available on their website.

Jennifer Avatar

Christine- Do you know if the Skin Base foundation is going to released here in the US and if so when? I see it’s pictured in the promo photos but it says it has gold shimmer…?

AnGeLwInGz Avatar

Illamasqua’s collections are always so exciting! I don’t have the guts to wear much of it but their promo pics are stunningly gorgeous. From this collection I’m interested in the Scribe Precision Ink, Nomad nail polish, and Pivot eyeshadow. Please review as soon as possible because my Sephora doesn’t carry Illamasqua so I can’t test them out for myself.

Emily Avatar

I’m kind of interested in the skin base foundation or whatever it is, and the neutral pallette looks pretty, though some of the colors may be really fun for summer, so who knows!

Cécile Avatar

Oh my, that white liner looks amazing! Does anybody have an idea how that could be somehow dupeable (without using Tipp-Ex 😉 )?
I love the promo pictures, Illamasqua alwas does amazing stuff.

amy Avatar

Try Manic Panic, or Stargazer cosmetics. I was looking for red liquid eyeliner awhile back, and I came across a site in the UK that carried Stargazer, but unfortunately I can’t remember the name, as they are very inexpensive, low shipping, & I got my order (to Los Angeles) in less than a week. Stargazer is a UK brand, & it is amazing. Just Google “white liquid eyeliner”, and I’m sure you’ll find something. HTH

I have been loving Illamasqua lately!! I am just bummed that the full line isn’t offered at Sephora here in the US. I have been looking into their pencils because Vow looks like the perfect cream/nude liner with just the right amount of yellow, but it’s not available here. Well, it is, kind of. Did anyone else know that the Kryolan store in Chicago carries the entire Illamasqua line? Yeah, but they don’t ship! Annoying. Sorry, I had to rant.

Kendall Avatar

You should definitely check out MAC Lipmix in Blue, then. It’s a gorgeous teal/cyan, wears well without drying out lips, and can be mixed with lipsticks you’ve got easily so it’s useful even when you don’t want blue lips. Probably my favorite lipstick. It’s a pro product, but if you call a Pro store they’re always happy to ship things to you

Anna Avatar

I have to say that Illamasqua has to be the nr 1 brand when it comes to amazing promo pictures 🙂
The quads look amazing… especially the neutral one 🙂
The Nomad polish look amazing too 🙂

Kim Avatar

I love you! I seriously could not find the release date for this collection at Sephora on any other blog post and I’m obsessed with Illamasua Nail Varnishes.

In London, and some other big UK cities this is how you dress to go clubbing. And of course in Europe. It’s odd that words like oompa loops and – was that demonic? Somebody needs to get out more. Ancient Celts and the Moari of New Zealand would laugh at that whole idea, devils and demons. But they’d recognize the markings. Perhaps Ilamasqua is also all ages, all sexes, all races.
Some of the best make up how to vids on You Tube are British men who wear make up. Lots of it. Proudly. And very big on Ilamasqua so you can really see the goods at work.
In New Orleans we have a five day run every year of looking something like this. I adore it! It’s more stripping away than applying coverage, at least that’s the experience.

Faye Avatar

Back when I used to go to the alternative clubs in London, I wouldn’t think twice about wearing such makeup. It was pretty much the norm. Can’t now though, I don’t go to clubs anymore, as I work too much! But I want that teal lipstick, even just so I can apply it at home and imagine I’m in Slimelight again 😀

It figures that Apocalips and Vernau are both EU only, since those are the ones I’d really like. Well, Fierce lip gloss as well, but it’s still a disappointment. What I find really galling is that the web site says these items can’t ship to the US, but they don’t differentiate between the US and Canada (so even though the products might be allowed here, we’re out of luck). To say nothing of the fact that Sephora won’t even ship Illamasqua products available in the US up here.

I”m not sure how I’d use a Teal lipstick, but I’d be willing to try it. I’ve managed to find ways to wear Mac’s Peacocky and Blast O’Blue. I’d actually love to see how Apocalips would look with a purple gloss, but I fear it will never be…

I bought the nail varnishes and I love them! I went to NYC, Times Square yesterday and dropped by at the Sephora. This collection is already launched there, go get em guys and gals! 😉

Rosa Avatar

I am quite surprised, but the teal lipstick does look great on the latest girl. I mean, it does suit her a lot, her skin and hair. Or it’s only me?

I am always so pleased with Illamasqua, they really make challenging stuff look like it was no deal. So inspiring.

C Avatar

my real hair is dyed the same colour blue as the model has; so im interested in the eyeshadow to do my brows with, however i’ll probably wait till they have a sale or a deal on.
as much as i love illamasqua, my pocket doesnt stretch that far !

amy Avatar

If everyone just wore what they wanted, at least in their private lives, then this would be a world where it’s acceptable. If everyone who visits this site alone wore something “unconventional”, just think of the impact it would make on society. I, for one, wear red eyeshadow/liner on a regular basis, even to work (at a bank); the key was moderation-start with a bit of an accent, and work your way up. Just go for it.

Faye Avatar

I want Apocalips, because it has such a cool name and I just want a matte teal lipstick in my collection – though I’d be too afraid to wear it out!

This is one of those rare times I’m happy to be in the EU 🙂 In general, you guys in the US have it so much better than us!

Monique Avatar

Thanks for the review – Sephora.com has the picture up but no sign of the products to actually purchase. I’m sad I’ve been waiting for this launch online for weeks.

Nina Sparr Avatar

I know! Me too Monique! I couldn’t find the US/Sephora release date anywhere until I finally remembered Christine always posts the release dates, when I saw it was today I was SO excited!! Jumped over to Sephora’s website… nothin’. Grrr….
