Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette
Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette ($52.00 for 0.60 oz.) includes twelve eyeshadows, each 0.05 oz. (equivalent of a full-sized eyeshadow), in hues of pink and brown. It also includes a dual-ended eye brush, and a week’s worth of samples of each of their primers. The case is a rose gold metal with “waves” indented across the exterior. Overall, it’s a really lovely palette filled with eyeshadows that are highly pigmented, soft, blendable, and easy to use. With ten of the twelve, they wore well for just over eight hours without fading or creasing. Darkside was my favorite shade, as it was somewhat unusual, and it wasn’t too frosted. Dust was the worst performer, which isn’t unexpected, as it has a fair amount of glitter, which makes the texture less smooth and results in fall out during wear. Trick had minor fall out during wear, but it applied better and had more color payoff.
It is now available at urbandecay.com! 🙂
Comparisons to Naked 1 and Naked 2 can be found here!
Strange is described as a “pale neutral pink matte-satin.” It’s a pale, neutral-to-warm white-pink with a satin matte finish. It had really good color payoff, and the texture was soft and finely-milled–a very, very smidgen powdery if I’m being nitpicky as a little goes a long way. Too Faced Powdered Sugar (LE) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty In the Pink #1 (LE) is similar. LORAC Light Pink (P) is pinker. MAC Pen ‘n’ Pink (P, $15.00) is darker. Chanel Variation #1 (P) is cooler-toned. Chanel Premier Regard #2 (P) is pinker. Benefit Pinky Swear (P, $20.00) is darker. bareMinerals Giddy (P) is darker. Inglot #356 (P, $6.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches.
Dust is described as a “pale metallic pink shimmer with iridescent micro-glitter.” It’s a light-medium pink with warm undertones and a white and gold micro-glitter. The texture is a little powdery and glittery, so it feels looser; it’s a shade I would apply with a dampened brush to minimize fall out and to help it apply more smoothly. I had noticeable fall out with this shade. Sleek MakeUP Sunset #12 (P, $9.99) is darker. Chanel Pink Lagoon (LE, $34.00) is warmer, cream product. Urban Decay Scratch (P, $18.00) is darker. MAC Rose Light (LE, $32.50) is more metallic. bareMinerals Page Six (P) is less glittery. See comparison swatches.
Burnout is described as a “light pinky-peach satin.” It’s a rosy, medium peach with a pearly finish. It had really nice color payoff, and the texture was soft, smooth, and not at all powdery. Laura Mercier Primrose (P) is similar. Laura Mercier Guava (P) is pinker, less frosted. Tarina Tarantino Tiny Pansie (LE) is warmer. Tom Ford Beauty In the Pink #2 (LE) is similar. Too Faced Ringleader (LE) is similar. theBalm Third Eye Blinded (P, $16.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches.
Limit is described as a “light dusty rose matte.” It’s a mauve-y, medium pink with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nice pigmentation, and the texture was soft, blendable, and smooth. It was slightly powdery. NARS Douce France #2 (LE, $24.00) is rosier. Le Metier de Beaute Icon (LE, $30.00) is darker. See comparison swatches.
Buzz is described as a “metallic rose shimmer with silver micro-glitter.” It’s a warm, coppered rose with a frosted, metallic sheen. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was soft, buttery, and smooth. Urban Decay Scratch (P, $18.00) is less metallic, slightly less warm-toned. Chanel Abstraction (LE, $36.00) is a cream product. Inglot #399 (P, $6.00) is darker, less warm-toned. See comparison swatches.
Trick is described as a “light metallic pinky-copper shimmer with tonal micro-sparkle.” It’s a medium copper with brownish tones and a gold sparkles over a frost finish. It had good pigmentation, and the texture though sparkly, was soft and buttery and applied smoothly overall. Dior Meteore (661) (P, $30.00) is a cream product. LORAC Garnet (P) is less frosted, darker. Guerlain Cuivre Ora (LE, $35.00) is more orange. theBalm Racy Kacy (P, $16.00) is darker. NARS California (P, $24.00) is darker, less sparkly. MAC Star Myth (LE, $15.00) is similar, less sparkly. MAC Mythical (LE, $15.00) is rosier. bareMinerals Imagine (P) is lighter. See comparison swatches.
Nooner is described as a “medium pinky-brown matte.” It’s a medium-dark, rosy plum with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It was nicely pigmented, and the texture was soft, finely-milled, and blendable. It was very, very lightly powdery. LORAC Mauve (P) is purpler. Chanel Hasard (99) (P, $28.50) is grayer. NARS Charade #1 (P, $24.00) is shimmery. NARS New York (P, $24.00) is darker, redder. Guerlain Boulevard du Montparnasse #5 (LE) is shimmery. Le Metier de Beaute Icon (LE, $30.00) is cooler-toned. Inglot #344 (P, $6.00) is browner. See comparison swatches.
Liar is described as a “medium metallic mauve shimmer.” It’s a medium brown with subtle warm undertones and a slightly gray-ish cast on top. It had a very frosted, almost metallic, finish. The texture was incredibly soft, leaning towards a little powdery, but very pigmented. Laura Mercier Bamboo (P) is less frosted, yellower in tone. Too Faced Crisp Apple Strudel (LE) is more golden. MAC Her Cocoa #4 (LE, $15.00) is darker. LORAC Pewter (P) is darker.MAC Smokeluxe #3 (P) is similar. Disney by Sephora Chateau (LE) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Platinum (LE, $40.00) is a cream product. See comparison swatches.
Factory is described as a “pinky-brown satin.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a soft, pearled finish. It had nice pigmentation, and the texture was soft, finely-milled, and blendable. Dior Golden Flower #5 (LE) is warmer. Chanel Seduction #4 (LE) is slightly darker. MAC Constructivist (P, $18.50) is a cream product. Disney by Sephora Chateau (LE) is redder-toned. Urban Decay West (LE, $18.00) is darker. NARS Flowers 3 #4 (LE, $24.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
Mugshot is described as a “metallic taupe shimmer with slight pink shift.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned taupe with a frosted, metallic finish. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was soft and buttery. Illamasqua Acute (P) is a cream product. Urban Decay Stray Dog (LE, $18.00) is less metallic.Urban Decay Lost (LE, $18.00) is slightly darker. Urban Decay Rehab (LE, $20.00) is a cream product. Chanel Raffinement #1 (P) is less metallic. See comparison swatches.
Darkside is described as a “deep taupe-mauve satin.” It’s a cool-toned, purpled taupe with a pearled finish. It had nice pigmentation, and the texture was soft, finely-milled, and easy to blend on the lid. Too Faced Bluff (LE) is lighter, more metallic. MAC Graphic Style (LE, $15.00) is grayer. Clinique Lavish Lilac (P, $16.00) is a cream product, lighter. MAC Black Slip (LE, $15.00) is similar. MAC Moth Brown (LE, $15.00) is grayer. MAC Round Midnight (LE, $21.00) is darker. MAC Stolen Moment (LE, $21.00) is very similar. See comparison swatches.
Blackheart is described as a “smoky black matte with rosy red micro-sparkle.” It’s a deep, blackened burgundy with warm, reddish-brown undertones and ruby red micro-shimmer. MAC Magic Moor (LE, $15.00) is more frosted, lighter. Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate (LE, $29.00) is totally matte. MAC Brownluxe #5 (P) is browner. MAC Graphology (P, $15.00) is totally matte. Giorgio Armani #2 (P, $33.00) is brighter, more shimmery. See comparison swatches.
By the by, I also thought that three shades in this replicated Tom Ford’s In the Pink trio surprisingly well — Strange, Burnout, and Trick (mix in Dust with Trick to get even closer).

Well, I’ll be damned. It actually looks really nice and I do like it more than the original.
Pretty… but I’m not sold on it. Considering how little I’ve used my Naked 2 compare to the original Naked, I’m worried this one would just fall by the wayside.
I thought I was the only one! I bought into the hype with Naked 2 and I’ve barely used it. Gonna think very carefully before another one of those purchases.
It’s so easy to but into the hype though! The packaging is lovely and there’s no doubt the colours are beautiful too. But at some point… it’s too much!
Amen!
ditto
I did the same, glad I’m not alone. I preferred Naked 1 vs 2. Though Naked 3 does look better than 2. 1 felt more pigmented due to the shades. I wish it would get rereleased in the tin case like 2 and 3, so I could more easily bring it everywhere.
Agree….Naked 1 was the best
I own Naked 1 and some others from Urban Decay, been trying many brands but always come back to Naked 1. a friend got 2 and I had tried them which I didn’t like it at all, but with this 3!!! I’m really looking forward to have it in hand.
I actually perfer the naked 1 packaging. The tin cases feel too heavy for me. Thats the reason I sold off my naked 2. and barely touch my “build your own palettes” …. =\ I like the lighter, easier ( in my opinion ) to open packaging.
I actually prefered Naked 2 – the first one is a little too warm toned for me. But this looks lovely too….tempting!
And I’m just the opposite. While I love the original Naked palette and will always continue to use it, Naked2 works much better for my colouring and doesn’t have the fallout that Sidecar (in 1) has (and I wish it didn’t – I love that shade but not the shower of sparkles!). I have room for another one in my collection and all 3 will get used, though it goes without saying that some shades in all the palettes and, most likely, Naked2, will be more used than others.
I agree! Although I have Naked1 (which at the time was the only one to purchase, obviously), I was anticipating the release of the Naked2 palette MUCH MORE! The colors work better with my skin tone and hair color. I feel like I can take just the Naked2 palette with me somewhere, and not need any other eye shadows to complete my look. The colors in Naked3 are neutral, but they definitely spiced things up by adding pink hues to the color selection, while having a decent range of light and dark shades. I didn’t purchase the Naked Basics palette because the majority of the colors were all light – this confuses me. I will get Naked3 even though I have the first two, but I think Naked2 will still be my go-to palette of the bunch.
I agree with Chelle. I have not used my original and Naked 2 enough to justify buying another one.
you took the words right out of my mouth. I bought naked 2 and have never used it. what a waste. 🙁 I won’t be getting the naked 3 either.
Oh, boy. I really didn’t think I’d be interested, since I already have the first two palettes, but this one is so lovely. All those pretty shades of pink, purple and brown!
Beautiful! Will you say this one leans more pink/purple or brown? More of cool tone or warm tone?
To me, this palette is pink and brown and leans warm!
Thank you for the response. I just got LM Artist and Lorac Pro because of your positive review, do you think I need this one? I don’t have any UD palette. Or I can wait a bit, I only have 2 eyes anyway, how many eye shadows do I need, right? But this is such a pretty palette!
You can definitely wait on this one – use the two palettes you already have, see how you like them, and whether you need this one! 🙂
This was the exact same thing I was wondering. Thanks for the response.
I’m really surprised to get your read on this, Christine. My first impression looking at the colors are that they lean cool, especially the darker ones. Well, I’ll give it a whirl and see. I can always return if it doesn’t work out for me.
I like the looks you did with this palette. 🙂
Some of the colors are cooler, but it read warmer overall on me! Like Dust, Burnout, Buzz, Trick, and Liar are all quite warm, then Factory and Mugshot are more neutral (though warm on me). Even though Darkside is cooler, it still has a warmer, brownish-plum base when sheered out – same with Blackheart!
So WHEN can I get this exactly?
Hi Maddie,
Urban Decay hasn’t given out a specific date – just sometime this November for urbandecay.com and then December for everywhere else.
I think it’ll pair beautifully with the 2nd palette. Can’t wait!
I love Naked 1 and only use 2 or 3 colors from Naked 2. Not sure how some of these colors will look on darker toned people. The colors are really beautiful but really undecided, I dont want to buy another palette just for it to sit.
I feel the same way – I love my Naked 1 but I’ve held off buying Naked 2 because my sister, who is the same darker skintone as me & has both – almost never uses Naked 2.
Based on the swatches, I like about half the colors of Naked 3 but I’m really uncertain if this would work on me + I wonder if it’s even worth it considering it could potentially just sit.
I was thinking the same thing. These colors look very light and I’m not sure they’d work for my dark complexion. I have both Naked 1 and 2. I use Naked 1 more than 2. I purchased Naked Basics, but returned it within days as I didn’t like any of the colors in that one. I’m starting to get over the UD palette hype. Too many pale frosted colors. Too much chunky glitter.
Yeah way to cool tone pink/mauves for me but I’m sure for those that find the Naked and Naked 2 to warm will love it.
Damn, I think I like this D:< even better than the original, which I have! Do you know if they plan on releasing some of the shades in little pans? I would definitely buy Blackside or Darkside as a pan!
Given that UD does this across palettes, it’s possible you’ll see some shades added to the permanent range, but it’s hard to say which ones or when. I doubt they’ll add anything individually for awhile, though!
I’m so excited about this palette. It seems like the colors are in the coppery family which I think looks awesome with my blue eyes, so I can’t wait to try this!
I was also thinking “ooo this will really bring out my blue eyes!”
I had been planning on asking for Naked 1 for Christmas, but now I’m torn.
I assume that’s you in the pic, and I think this palette would look stunning on you!
I was hoping that this would be a truly cool leaning palette (for once!). I’ll have to swatch in store since that doesn’t seem to be the case :/
The only shades I’m not completely sold on are Trick & Buzz, but the rest are simply stunning. If this is due out in late November, the stores near me will likely get them in-store in December, which is actuallybbetter for me.
Is it coming with any travel size, like naked 1 and 2?
Thank you!!!

I was expecting…just…more. I do like how the majority of the shades are lighter. My N4 skin definitely lends itself to lighter eyeshadows. I cannot wear dark eyeshadows to work everyday.I was just about to buy Naked 2 (I already own Naked 1) when I heard about this palette. Overall, I think this palette would suit me better. I’m just a little unsure about how cool-toned everything is. I might need to see this palette before I commit.
Hi Christine, I just bought the Laura Mercier Artist Pro palette during VIB– it has a lot of pinky peaches and rose toned colors. For you, how do the two palettes compare, color and texture wise? I don’t think I would need both right? And would you say UD Naked 3’s shimmers have more of a frosted or metallic finish than the LM’s shimmers? Thanks for all you do! 🙂
This palette is more shimmery/frosted overall, and it is a lot warmer – the Laura Mercier is cooler-toned, has more mattes, and more plum/purple (this is more pink and brown).
I am definitely getting this! I also go for these sort of shades!
Have been waiting all day for this! Thanks for the review! And now I can confirm that I need this. Well…’need’ is not exactly the right word here 😉
It actually looks like a palette I could wear. My hesitation with Naked 1 and Naked 2 are that browns tend to go muddy on me, without a lot of effort. It looks like with all the pinks I could pull this off. I’m not crazy about all the frosty finishes though. Thanks for the amazing swatches 🙂
Same here! I look tired with brown eyeshadows on, probably because of my yellow-olive complexion, and I’m extremely fair. I’ll definitely be checking this out!
Hmmmm…. I love the naked 2 palette since I use basically all cool tone eyeshadows everyday. This looks quite pink and warm so no thanks UD 🙂
Kinda reminds me of the LORAC Unzipped palette. In person is it different enough to have both?
Sorry, I don’t think I have that palette!
Hi,
I have the Unzipped and I feel it’s more copper/bronzey colors than this palette. This has a lot more pink in it than Unzipped.
Hope this helps!
What Robin said! I do also want to add that the Unzipped has shimmery gold and rose gold colors as well as burgandy browns, so the shades are similar to the ones in the Naked 3, leaning a tad more red (from the burgandy). I’m not sure about exact dupes between the two palettes, but they do look fairly similar. I personally think the shades in Unzipped will be more complementary to brown eyes (which is what I have) than the Naked 3, and it also has more mattes, so I’ll be skipping on the new UD palette, but they both look beautiful. I own the Unzipped and it’s a favorite of mine, but if you like rosey golds and deep browns, you probably won’t need both palettes.
This looks…pretty. I skipped out on the first two NAKED palettes (or well, I got the NAKED 1 and then returned it) because as a WOC they didn’t appeal to me. Really light browns on a dark brown don’t go to well (in my opinion). But this looks like it will be a lot of fun! Or at least I hope so.
I’m hoping that Sephora get’s this in time for the $20 off of $50 sale in December.
I really hope we can get this in England soon! I’m hoping for December:)
Apparently we’re getting it 20th December in Northern Ireland, so you guys will prob be around the same time Xx
I completely passed on the Naked 2 but this one… I really like! Going on my xmas list!
Finally, I will be adding a naked palette to my collection… neither of the first two did much for me since I have TONNES of neutral shades all on their own… but this is SO down my alley. Lots of taupe and dusty rose? Yes please.
Hm, the lighter shades I probably wouldn’t use (pinky shades don’t suit me) but I just adore Mugshot, Blackheart, and Darkside so much. Wish I could combine those with my favorite half of Naked1! Still want this though.
Love the palette, but I’m not so sure about the packaging choice with the waves… in the picture it kind of looks like the clear plastic sticker that comes on top of the mirrors in some palettes, but poorly put on. I’m super stoked for this though, especially buzz!
Man, UD is killing it with their Naked palettes. They should just finish making the single eyeshadows and make a fortune on these things! I guess this is going on my Christmas wish list! Darn you UD… 😉
I’m thinking very seriously about purchasing this pallette because the shades look wearable and beautiful. Besides, I’m a big fan of the original palette which has rescued me in more than one ocasion.
Thanks for the review
damn, I was hoping I wouldn’t like this but I reeeeally do.
I should probably pass on this, considering I already have the first two.
but it’s super pretty, & I’m really happy they didn’t repeat any of the shades from the other naked palettes.
I’ll most likely end up getting it.
And no Half Baked, LOL!
not a big fan of neutrals but this is in wish list just for the name sake 🙂
i skipped N1 ( the original one ) and N2 am not using much
am more inclined towards smoked palette 😀
still your review convinced me to pick this up 🙂
truly appreciate every moment you spent
Thank you, Rashmi! 🙂
I never bothered to buy a Naked palette, but I think it’s time! Like those colors better…..
I think I like this more than the 1&2.Rosie shades are my thing. Can’t wait to try it!
OMG I am drooling 🙂 the shades are so feminine and pretty
OMG your liner tho!! The looks are gorgeous (thank you so much for that) but your liner is what really completes them. Would you mind sharing what you used?
I used Urban Decay Twice Baked in the first two, Urban Decay Tornado on the last one!
Thank you! They are outstanding and now getting added to my “to-buy” list.
You know, my big beef with this is the packaging! The colors look stunning and I’ll definitely will pick it up BUT I have and hate naked 2 bc the packaging was soooo bad and hard to open. Mine actually had all loose shadow pans that eventually all fell out and shattered 2 shadows not long after I bought it 🙁 I would HATE for that to happen to this one too!
I’m not sure if I should get this since there are so many similar shades to the first two palettes (which I have). I do love Darkside and Blackheart, though! I should really work on practicing my eye makeup skills more often so I could put all these lovely palettes to use.
PS: Who am I kidding? There’s a 95% chance I’m going to buy this as soon as I get the chance to. 🙄
Amazing swatches Christine! Thank you for this blog post! ^_^ X
I had high hopes for this, but another WARM palette? Seriously UD??? How about a Naked 4 palette with cool-neutral shadows, a couple more matte shades and most importantly a medium-dark MATTE shade.
I second this!
love it
This palette is a must-have!
I don’t want to want this, because I swore I wouldn’t buy any more UD stuff ever again. But oh man it’s pretty. I’m super super pale and cool-toned so I think it might look kind of awesome on me. Everyone tell me how much I don’t need it.
Hi Christine!
How would you compare Strange to Yogurt by MAC?
Nooner and Limit should be perfect paired with Stormy Pink paint pot by MAC! 🙂 Lovely!
Do you have any idea about the release date and the price? I live in Italy! 🙂
And, finally: I’m NW10 with black hair and deep brown eyes; do you think this palette could work on me? I already have Naked 1 and Naked 2 and I love Naked 2 the most, in addiction to that I love pinks, mauves, greys… ok, what am I asking for? I LOVE NAKED 3! And I’ll get it… no matter what XD
Yogurt is paler and more matte 🙂 Cooler-toned!
I think Sephora France started telling people January, so I would expect around then for Europe in general!
Perfect, I was born on January 31st so N3 could become a perfect birthday gift 🙂
I would love to see more cool shades, but I love this palette anyway 🙂 thank you!
Wow – this is the first Naked palette that I want to get! 🙂
Hi christine, How good is the dual ended brush to apply and blend the eyeshadows??
It feels just like their full-sized ones, so if you like those, you’ll be good here! I don’t love Urban Decay’s brushes for eyeshadow application as much as a lot of my other brushes, but they’re good brushes.
Looks so much like the Lorac Unzipped palette!
Like Blackheart most of all, fabulous to see swatches so fast but not getting any more makeup for 6 months, let’s see how long I can keep resolved!
This is TOTALLY up my alley! I loved N1, I have N2 but don’t use it quite as much, but this….THIS! It’s so feminine because it leans pink. I love it. Can’t wait! 🙂
I’m so excited!! I mentioned your blog and review on my blog 🙂
Thanks, Katie!
I’ve been hesitant to buy Naked 1, Naked 2, and Naked Basics. I think I might go for this one.
I thought I would be all on this, but I am just kinda “eh”. Oh well. Money saved.
It really blows my mind how detail oriented you are with this blog. You review every single detail, every single time & I never have any questions afterwards…never. 🙂
Thank you, Crystal! That is always the goal 😀
Hi Christine,
I’m so excited for this palette to come out – do you know whether it’ll be part of the permanent collection?
Yes, it’s permanent! 🙂
I know there are lots of similarities among the three Naked palettes (I already have 1 and 2) but you’re bound to get that with neutral collections. I’m such a pushover for neutrals so I know I will be picking this up as soon as I get a chance. It may not be all that exciting but to a neutral-lover like me, it actually IS very exciting and I’d sooner shell out for this than for Naked Basics.
I’m so appreciative of you getting this up in a nano-second. Thank you so much!
My pleasure, Deb!
Can’t wait to get this, pink shades suit me far better than the browns. I’m having a mini heart attack right now!
PLEASE MAKE AN ALL MATTE PALETTE I WOULD DIE! <3
Thanks for the review! I don’t have either of the first two palettes but this one has sparked my interest. I have to think about it…
I think this is pretty! When I first looked at the palette I thought the colors were almost invisible. Lol! But then your swatches helped a lot. How on Earth did you get this from UD to review so quick.Nice work Christine!
Oh! A Naked palette I may actually use and love! I ended up swapping away my Naked 2 palette because the only shade I really used was Tease, this one has two variations of it and a LMDB Nouvelle Vague feel at a more affordable price point, awesome!!!
Maybe I’ll have to give the palettes a chance again and try this, buy an individual tease and get Naked Basics. There goes all my Christmas money…
Love the look of this one. I really enjoy my UD “original Naked”, but I think that I might get even more use out of this.
So on the fence about this one as my skintone is a NC45. I think this would look great on the fair skin beauties. But I will definitely gift one to a good friend of mine who will love this palette.
I really, really love this. I love the warm pink tones and gorgeous taupe-y mauves, so gorgeous! That being said, I already have LORAC Unzipped, so I don’t know if I could actually justify getting this as well. Siggggh.
I loveeee the pink theme! I think the Rose Gold and overall shade selection is absolutely perfect! I think I liked this much more than the originals!
I have Naked 1 & 2 and never use either of them so I don’t know about Naked 3. It might just be a waste of money.
Its too bad none of the Naked Palettes have dark brown mattes
Hi Christine, is it worth buying if I have Naked 1 and Naked 2 ?
Thanks in advance for your answer !
I would look at the shades in N3 and consider how many you’d reach for/use often – if it’s more than say five or six, then it’s probably worth buying for you!
This palette definitely looks more fair-skin friendly than the first two; this being said, I’m frustrated to see that the palette still leans warm. I was geared up to jump all over this palette, but now I’m going to have to give it some serious thought before buying it. Trick and Buzz are shades likely to sit untouched in the pan the for the entirety of the time I own it, and with the number of neutrals I already own, two out of twelve is a strike against it.
I hate to say it, but I feel ready to give up on the UD Naked line and just stick to the occasional single. :-/ What’s the point of buying palettes if they aren’t willing to produce shades flattering to my skin tone?
My thoughts exactly. It’s puzzles me too because their other palettes have a better mix of cool toned colors. It’s like they just refuse to go there with their neutrals. :-/
I feel the same way! I would love it if Urban Decay produced a neutral palette specifically for cool-toned people–I know Naked2 was supposed to be that palette, but I’m still hesitating on buying it because I know some of the shades will be unwearable. But the fact is that there are simply more warm-toned than cool-toned people in the world, so I suppose it makes sense that the Naked palettes lean warm.
Is the naked 3 palette available in store now?? I really need to go buy this 😛
Urban Decay did not specify a date – they said late November for their website, December for other retailers.
Oh my… I just-
Oh dear god. This is beautiful.
One question though, you mentioned that Buzz has a frosted finish. Does this mean that you can’t detect any glitter during application? I’m REALLY not a fan of glitter since most of the time it ends up in my contacts, am I gonna have this problem with this eyeshadow?
I didn’t notice any glitter in that shade when using it/swatching it!
When is it coming out?
Urban Decay did not specify a date – they said late November for their website, December for other retailers.
Now THIS is the Naked palette I’ve been waiting for. I have the first 2, and Basics, but only use a few shades from each. But this one? My pale skin, red hair and green eyes need this in our life right now. I’m drooling over some of those rosy shades….
This reminds me of Naked 2 a lot. I think I need to see it in person to decide if I want it.
COME ON UD… We want an ALL MATTE palette already. I bought into the hype for a while but now i am stuck with all these shimmery colors that just look muddy when you try to blend them. I do believe their matte shadows are some of the best. I wish they would release an all matte naked palette bigger than naked basics.
This looks absolutely lovely. I don’t have any other of the Naked palettes, although I had considered getting Naked 2 or Naked basics, but I definitely see myself using the shadows in this more often.
Onto the Christmas List it goes.
I hesitated on picking up 1 and 2, but I think I’m going to go ahead and buy this one! I can’t resist a rose gold palette 🙂
Oh CRAP! I don’t own any of the Naked Palettes, and this one may have to be my first! It’s flipping gorgeous! 🙂
Looks nice! I wish they would dedicate a whole palette with purple tones for color lovers. The vice palettes just seem like a hodge podge of colors.
I would be in HEAVEN if they came out with an all purple palette!
I would love a purple palette too!
I was sure I was the only person in the world who wasn’t so excited about NAKED3 coming. Reason comments, I’m not alone in being terribly impressed! The packaging is nice, but only a few shades actually speak to me. Thanks for the swatches/review though, Christine! Dust reminds me a little of NYX’s eyeshadow also called Dust or Fairy Dust. It’s a pink, glittery/shimmery shade too.
Are there any sparkly eyeshadows that you can think of that do not have crazy fallout?
Tom Ford and Dior for sure come to mind, though it is not consistent across ALL of the glittery shades.
Oh!!!!!! That is so very pretty!!!!!!
Do they have less fallout than other UD shadows?
Addressed fall out in the review above 🙂 but here it is copied and pasted for your convenience: “Dust was the worst performer, which isn’t unexpected, as it has a fair amount of glitter, which makes the texture less smooth and results in fall out during wear. Trick had minor fall out during wear, but it applied better and had more color payoff.”
You know what, I wasn’t particularly interested (if at all) in the Naked 3 palette prior to its release, but it actually does look very nice!
I especially love the second look you created, Christine.
This looks really pretty but rosy pinks… actually anything red toned looks terrible on me (I’m fair/cool with brown eyes and brown hair), I’ll be sitting this one out. Also wish there were more mattes!
Thank you very much for this review!
I will buy the palette, as soon as I find a seller who ships it internationally.
The color are, what I was searching for since a few months – a palette of rosy-based, versatile nuances in different finishes… and the quality seems to be worth the price. So I’m in love and because I didn’t got one of the both first Nakeds, I could justify the buying! 😀
This looks beautiful, but I just caved and bought Naked 1. I don’t have many eyeshadows or even neutrals though, so I might get this one
I really wanted to love this palette but it looks very similar to the other two. I own both Naked 1 and 2 and i like them but i don’t use them as much as i wish i did. The FALLOUT is just too much than I’m comfortable with especially when I’m in a hurry! I hate the glitter all over my cheeks. Can you comment on how the fallout in this palette compares to the fall out in the first two?
The fallout and the rosy pink tones are the only things that are holding me back from getting this. Not sure how the rosy colors would look on my dark brown hair/eyes and light olive (about NC20) skin tone.
Hi Karen!
Mentioned this in the post – here it is copied and pasted: “Dust was the worst performer, which isn’t unexpected, as it has a fair amount of glitter, which makes the texture less smooth and results in fall out during wear. Trick had minor fall out during wear, but it applied better and had more color payoff.”
And it’s named ‘Dust’. I seem to remember ‘Prank’ in Vice2 being fallout-ville too. I figure UD knows.
I am in love with this palette. <3 I adore pinks and to have an entire neutral palette based on pinks is like a dream come true! I just purchased Naked 1 and Naked 2 with the VIB sale at Sephora last weekend and I only had a few chances to play around with them so far, but so far I am in love with both! I'm really surprised that so many people seem to strongly prefer one over the other. I must be the odd one out because I love them both. I plan on getting Naked Basics soon. I will definitely be getting this palette as soon as it is released inside Sephora stores. (I want the beauty insider points!) I am really happy UD decided to go with the packaging of the Naked 2 as I love that packaging and the Naked 1 packaging. Naked 1 is so flimsy and I hate the feel of velvet. Doesn't affect my love of the shades at all though. Kinda weird that samples of all their primer potions are included. o.O I would have preferred an exclusive eyeliner, and not a black.
And now I am sitting here daydreaming about Naked 4 being an all matte palette (with 12 shadows) and a Naked 5 with purples and a Naked 6 with greens….oh, lord. *drools*
I want it, but like the other reviewers I never reach for naked 2 because I’m always going for the original. I may pass because it would just sit unused.
Thank you for this and the comparison review! I am totally excited about this palette and the colors Buzz and Blackheart – just GORGEOUS!
However I am not liking the ‘skrink wrapped’ or ‘warped’ look of the packaging… oh well.
I am glad this will be part of their permanent line as I just dropped quite a bit of $$ at the VIB sale, so I will be getting this palette next spring. Unless of course I get a really nice Christmas bonus! 😀
Afterthought: I wish Blackheart had been made into a duotone… a “smoky black matte with rosy red shift” – would have totally stolen the show!!!
This is nice, and my collector-ism may kick in at some point, but I’m pretty confident I’ve got the best of the three in Naked2.
Christine, I’m so impressed you have the swatches and comparisons between the palettes to boot so quickly! Seeing them all together in your other post really cements the fact that I want this one in my brain. = )
It seems like I’m in the minority based on the comments, but I own both N1 and N2 and reach for them both on a regular basis, even though I feel like the N2 leans a bit cool for me. So as a neutral lover, this palette really appeals to me, and I love how the rose/pink theme shines through. To me this palette is *SO* different from the other two in every way other than being “neutral” colors. Cannot wait for it to release into Sephora where I can spend the gift card my hubby got me for our anniversary! I think this one will get more use than the other two combined for me. = )
My pleasure, Cayleigh! 🙂
I love both N1 and N2 myself – would easily use and wear them all the time if you know, I could, but I’m sure you’re not alone or else they wouldn’t keep putting them out!
Hmmm. I’m wondering if all these medium blushy pinks and browns are going to make my brown eyes look tired. Well, there’s a 99% chance I’m going to buy it anyway!
This is really disappointing. Dust, Burnout, and Buzz all look basically the same, and a few of the other colors look like one another as well…seems like a bunch of repeats. Not worth it in my opinion. I don’t own Naked 1 or 2 because I think I’m just not a neutral palette person, I need some variety!
Wow. I am certainly, without doubt, definitely purchasing this palette as soon as it’s available. The hues are just so romantic and rosy — “Buzz” and “Nooner” are especially darling! Thank you for such a prompt and thorough review Christine — I’ve only recently discovered your blog, but have quickly come to depend on your reviews and swatches as a valuable resource in my makeup endeavors.
Thank you SO much, Courtney! xo
I am totally drawn to pink & brown/neutral palettes, so this is definitely my cup of tea – I’m adding it to my wishlist!
With both of the the other “nakeds” I was like, “where the frig is the pink”? Well, now I have my answer.. Here goes more money out the pocket.
I did not want to fall for another UD eyeshadow palette (how many can I possibly own), but lemming = created. But seriously, I like the rose gold theme – its too pretty!!
OMG……OMG…TO EACH THEIR OWN BUT DAMN….THOSE ARE SOME HOTTTT COLORS. I ALMOST PEED MYSELF LOOKING AT IT. I WOULD NOT COMPARE THIS TO THE 1ST OR 2ND ONE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY FROM TONES TO FINISH ALL 3 PALLETTES ARE DIFFERENT AND BEAUTIFUL IN THEIR OWN WAY.
I JUST CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON IT!!!
I really like the looks that you created. I’m going to have to pass personally. I have Naked 1 and I still like it. The colors in this palette just don’t appeal to me.
II LOVE IIT ALREADY!!!
When is the release date on this?
They haven’t given a specific date – just late November for UD’s website, December for other retailers. Dec/January for international.
This palette looks absolutely gorgeous!
And that’s definitely not helping me decide which one of the 3 I want to get! haha
I’ve got a fair complexion with a warm undertone, dark brown eyes and light brown hair.
I’ve been using a drugstore eyeshadow palette for now (Essence Sun Club, in Long Beach – http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oV_32XUPjpE/T23bTkM3IzI/AAAAAAAABRM/jEHoT11Sh20/s1600/palette.jpg), and some black for the occasional smokey eye look.
I basically need help deciding which of the 3 Nakeds would cover all these shades, while matching my yellow skin.
Help pleeeeeease!
Based on those colors, if you really love and use it, you’d like N1 or N3 🙂 N3 seems like it may cover more.
Definitely not for me: the first half of the palette, up to Nooner, is way too frosted and too pink for my liking. Frosty pinks just don’t look very good on me.
This is the Naked that I’ve been waiting for!
For a long time I’ve wondered if I should get #1 or #2, but this is definitely it. (I hope UD and Brazilian stores cooperate to get it down here soon and for the usual price – the other ones cost about US$75-80 here 🙁 )
Thanks for the freat review!
Finally a Naked palette I can’t wait to buy. I don’t own the current two and have no plans to buy them. I’m getting this one the second it comes out though. I look good in pink shades so this is going to be perfect for me. I could actually see myself hitting pan on quite a few of these over time.
I don’t have Naked 1 or 2, this one appeals to me and I can’t wait to get it. I just purchased the Laura Mercier palette and LOVE it, but this one is calling my name too. Thanks for the review.
I’m going to buy it. I love UD to death so I’m excited! I will say that this might actually be more wearable for me than N1 and N2 simply because I am younger so pinker neutrals will look more girly and cute on me as opposed to the more dramatic neutrals. I find myself unable to pull off many of the darker colors in the first two Naked palettes because they make me look 10 years older. :x.
Hmm, this palette is very nice. I don’t think I have that many rosy-neutral shades.
I’m glad there isn’t any super dark/black shades. I never seem to finish black shadows in comparison to other neutral shades.
But this palette isn’t a must-get for me.
Nooner, Factory and blackside looks amazing.. I like light shades that they have added to this palette
Uh oh… I have been SO loving pink toned shadows lately. This might have to be my first Naked palette. Christine, you’re hurting my wallet. 😉
I am UD junkie, admittedly. I use my Naked 2 all the time as well as my other UD palettes and individual shadows and even though I have enough for 3 lifetimes, this is going into the collection too!
This is gorgeous! The only color I don’t like is trick. I’m really going to get this one, I didn’t get the Naked one and two because of two much yellow toned shades, but this one is perfect for fair girls.
Love it!
Omg!! I am absolutely in love with this new palette! SUPER DUPER EXCITED! For a person who wasn’t a big fan of the 1st Naked or the 2nd, I thought this palette is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are more diverse, not just “neutral colors” the pinks and the purple shades incorporated with the browns and metalics are genius. I am SOLD on this palette. Amazingly doable colors, and wow the Dust shadow is to die for. I am gonna go to Sephora and fight girls for this. Look so good.
Looks so awesome and a must have….I wish it was available in India too 🙁
This looks really nice I think I will get it I always look forward to new pallets from Urban Decay NEVER disapointed by the quality I rarely wear naked 2 due to it being cooler tone pallet and I think I will get more use out of the naked 3 Thanks for the review:-)
Which one would you recommend: Naked 3 or Naked Basics? I already own Naked1 and I use it almost daily and it’s the only palette I own. I’m trying to expand my collection and have been wanting Basics for awhile but now that I see this one, I kind of want this one too. I’m NC35 Asian with dark hair and eyes. Thanks!
I’d probably go Naked3 over Naked Basics!
I don’t own a naked palette because I own a few of the other UD palettes like roller girl and Ammo. I also own quite a collection of single eyeshadows from them and they are my favorite brand. However, I will definitely pick up this palette because of the rose neutrals. I think that they will go well with my medium skintone. I can’t wait for it to come.
I’m seeing a lot comparison comments and personally I feel like the Naked line of UD palettes are more of “find which one suits you” rather than “get all of them all the neutrals buy them now”. For some people the more golden N1 shades will suit you, for others the greige shades from N2 are better, and now some are drawn to the rose shades of N3 and that’s great! I honestly like both N1 and N2 because I just love neutrals in general and I’m excited to pick up N3!
Well, that’s that. Gotta have it. Love the rose tones!
This is so pretty looking. I think of all the Nakeds this is the one i want followed by Naked 1. This is so pretty and I love the pinks in there. For my blue eyes, this is a win. 🙂
Dammit, UD, with this being almost what I’d consider a “pinks” palette, you are so close to my dream of your making a series of monochromatic palettes, yet still so far away.
Purples, blues, greens, pinks, grayscale…come on…
I might have to swatch these in person. I don’t do neutrals terribly often, and I find that Naked Basics is really the one I’m most fond of for that sort of thing. However, this still is kinda in the sphere of colors I like.
It’s weird, I easily decided I had no interest in Naked 2 and still don’t own it, but this one looks nicer for whatever reason.
Hi Christine. Thank you for your review. I have warm and medium skintone. Do you think naked3 suitable for me? Need your help. 🙂
Yes, I think it would work!
I must say, I like it better than Nakeds 1 and 2, but still not entirely convinced I should get it. A lot of the “natural” or “earth tone” shadows only work on those with light skin tones (basically lighter than “True Beige” label) which means they’re most likely not going to work on me. Light browns can hardly show up on my eyes, let alone beiges, pinks, or corals. It’s why I ultimately never got any of the Naked palettes, Basics included.
Just wondering how this palette compares to the Lorac Unzipped palette. Seems like they might be pretty similar.
Thanks!
Sorry, I don’t have that!
Hmmmm the colors look VERY similar to Lorac’s Unzipped Palette. If you have that on hand already, no need to get this one.
Do you think the Naked 3 palette is similar to the Lorac Unzipped Palette?
I don’t have that palette, sorry!
Wow!!! I have always heard of these but didn’t know these were so good :):)
I can’t wait… I love it. I have both NAKED 1 and NAKED 2 so of course I just have to have this one as well!!!
Heyyy, do you think the colors in this palette would show up well/compliment women of colour? (NW 45)
I think they will show up for the most part, but a couple of the more mid-tone matte shades might not!
it’s a shame that all of the deeper shades aren’t matte. come on at least include one!
I had Naked 1 and barely used it. I got Naked 2 and barely used it. This one actually looks like one I will use. I think that the pink/mauve colors will go well with my green eyes. I wasn’t excited or even really interested in it until seeing this post.
Looks nice but I don’t think I need it sadly. Love my naked 2 too much. The matte shades look nice tho
I’ve been holding off buying a Naked pallet because it’s taken my FOREVER to get through the Stila one I bought years ago. So glad I did because these colors are much more up my alley. As always thanks for the thoughtful and comprehensive reviews!
I don’t like the packaging at all, but these colors are more up my alley than the other two Naked palettes. I’ll definitely be picking this up at some point.
Meh .. not my cup of tea.. I’m totally content with my Naked 2 pallette. I think this pallette would look the best on people with light / fair skin tone.
Out of all the three naked palettes which one will suit a deep medium skin tone?
N1
Hi!! Do you this that Trick from the Naked 3 is similar to Toxic from the Vice 2? Thank you!! Kisses!!
Toxic is a lot browner!
I’d love to see it in person, just in time for Xmas gifting!
Do you wear a brow gel Christine? I love your brows
they are amazing 🙂
Sometimes! If I do, I switch between NARS and MAC (Clear) – kind of whichever I happen to grab.
Love this review, soooo helpful! How is it possible that this looks even more amazing than my Naked2 palette? I’m so getting this for Christmas!!!
I’ve been thinking about it, and what bothers me the most, and keeps me from being totally gaga over this palette, is that there’s an eyeshadow that got a C rating. At the same time, it is only a point difference in overall rating from the Naked 2, which I also do not own but for some reason, it really bothers me that though this palette has a higher grade, there’s an eyeshadow that really disappoints in this palette. And I hate fallout issues when it comes to eyeshadows! I wish all the eyeshadows had gotten at least A- ratings! I know this palette will be a smash hit even with Dust, but I guess I always thought if Naked 3 came out it would be SUPER UBER impressive in all ways.
I am so afraid this isn’t blackgirlfriendly. I feel like a bad make-up lover for not being over-the-moon about this but I’m not. *sigh*
they shouldve put a black matte color wouldve been perfffect
I am a die-hard Naked 2 fan and I also own Naked Basics. Will Def be getting Naked 3. I actually think the prices of these palettes are reasonable. Have had Naked 2 for over a year and use 4-5 times a weeks and it lasts! I love Estee Lauder shadows as well and they are a little more expensive, but you can get a good 10 hour wear out of both UD and EL. I dont mind paying for quality. I do wish, however, for more matte colors; thats why i got the Naked Basics and I adore it!
The colours look great on you! Would you say they are universally flattering?
Thanks, Elyssa! I don’t think I’d say they’re universally flattering – anyone can wear them, but some will have to pay more attention to what they pair them with!
When I saw this one and looked at some of the swatches done before you reviewed it, I was not impressed at all. But then I saw your swatches and now I want it! Why do you do this to me? Why? All joke aside, I really don’t need any more e/s. I have enough to last me few lives, so I’ll pass.
I’m a Naked Palette fan girl. I never use anything else! Totally freaking out right now, definitely going to add this to my stash. Rose gold is definitely one of my favorite colors, especially for they eyes. I will probably wait until after Christmas to buy it, hopefully they won’t be forever sold out:(
Prior to actually seeing the promotional material and your swatches, I felt pretty indifferent about another Naked palette. I thought to myself, how many nude eyeshadow palettes does one really need? I loved the N1 palette and got it when it first came out. I skipped N2 as I felt it was too similar to N1 and passed on the N-Basics.
But that all changed when I saw your swatches. I am really into rose gold shades right now and feel N3 is different enough to justify purchasing. I can’t wait until it comes out! Thanks for all the work that you do – although it was also through your excellent work that is pushing me towards buying it. Haha, and so soon after the VIB sale – my poor wallet.
My pleasure! 🙂
Thank you for your trust & readership!
I can’t wait to buy it! it looks much better than the 2 which I skipped and I think it’ll go well with the original which I love
LOVE I can’t wait to get this it actually looks way better than the second and I thin it’ll go well with the original which is what I have
I am on the fence if I want to get Naked 3. I have 1, 2 and the basics. I use 1 and basics most often. I randomly use 2 just because I feel like I should use it more but it’s not my ‘go-to’ palette. I also recently picked up the Laura Mercier (sp?) palette and I’ve been using it a lot too (mostly because it’s my new baby LOL). I am afraid if I get Naked 3 I will have too many palettes. I already started to purge my makeup collection (lots of Back 2 Mac’ing going on lately) and I’ve stopped buying individual eyeshadows because no matter how much I love one in particular, I always reach for a palette first.
If you always reach for a palette, then this is worth considering – but it is also permanent, so there is no rush 🙂
Aside from Dust which looks pretty terrible…I am LOVING IT! 😀 WOW! I have gray eyes and very fair skin so pinks really make my eyes light up! A whole palette of beautiful pinky shades plus some beautiful unique neutrals is a HUGE YES for me! Ahhhhh!!! I’m so super excited for this! 😀
I adored Naked 1, and still do. I skipped Naked 2 (even though I was tempted). But I will definitely be getting Naked 3 without a doubt. These are the kind of colors I love the most! *huge swoon* I hope I can buy this the day it comes out. 😀
So when I first saw the leaked photos, I was like “eh.” And then I saw your beautiful pictures, swatches, and looks you created Christine, and it’s all over. I need this in my life. It will look perfect next to my N1 and N2 🙂 I deserve it since I didn’t buy Naked Basics (blah) or the Naked shimmer mess. *starts saving pennies* Perfect xmas present to myself, hehe.
I am going to be getting this when it comes to Ulta. All the talk about Naked 1 did actually convince me to pick that up today. I already own Naked Basics and Naked 2. I figured if I was going for 3 I might as well complete the collection.
If I’m being rational, I probably don’t need this, but oh how I want it! I love UD’s eyeshadows and want to complete my collection of the palettes.
I don’t like this one! I hate pink eyeshadows!
Naked 2 for the win!!! 😀
Will pick it up & try it but will very likely take it back, just like I did with all the other Urban Decay products I’ve ever bought. Hated Naked 1 & 2, as well as the mattes palette – which should’ve had just as much product as Naked 1 & 2. Would’ve kept it in that case. Ended up buyingKVD’s Ladybird palette instead, and love it.
Late, but O..M..G.. I want this palette for Blackheart alone. I am in love with smokey matte blacks that have micro-sparkle. The fact that it’s a rosy red micro-sparkle makes it unique and stunning. *Faints* I’d give anything to switch out Creep and Gunmetal with Blackheart and Darkside (and Sidecar for Blunt or Stray Dog lol) in the Naked 1. It would literally be the perfect palette for me. I hope they release those two in singles, at the very least, in case I don’t buy this palette after all. But it’s a lovely one. It will work with a lot of skin tones. It will make light eyes really pop and I feel would look pretty on darker skin tones. UD is very pigmented, so perhaps this will work on deep complexions and I think it will, Here’s hoping!
Do you think this palette will look good on African American women say nc45 or MUFE 170 because I am thinking of ordering online when it drops. Thanks.
I think they will show up for the most part, but a couple of the more mid-tone matte shades might not!
Do you know of any Makeup Geek eyeshadows that would be good dupes for some of these colors?
Hey Jenna!
All dupes, including anything I’d know of by Makeup Geek, are included in the post! 🙂
I swear, sometimes it’s like UD is reading our minds 😀 I’ve been on the hunt lately for some good pink-toned eyeshadows to subtly bring out my green eyes. Normally if I want the green to stand out, only a cool-toned smokey eye will do the trick.
The quality of UD shadows have also been improving (micro-glitter aside) but the batches still vary quite a bit. My Naked Basics is pretty much perfect with excellent pigmentation and zero fallout while some other people report that it was patchy and flaked on them. Naked 1 has mostly unusable shades for me due to the extreme fallout, only 3 of the colours from it get any use. None of the shadows have shattered, even with frequent travel and a rambunctious dog. I always feel that I get my money’s worth with these palettes in spite of the occasional bad batch.
Anyways, getting around to the point – I’ve been looking into the factories lately, using data from shipping records and import logs … as well as the labor laws, news, and nearby prisons. The fact that this palette is made in China is a dealbreaker for me. If products are made under inhumane conditions, I really feel companies should give up on any claims of being “ethical”. Fortunately most UD products are made and filled under better circumstances.
This is a great palette for fair skinned females and blondes! Finally! Great job UD!! 🙂
This palette looks gorgeous! I have naked 1, 2 and basics, and will def be picking this up!! Super pretty colours 🙂
It’s pretty. And it is super-easy for this WoC to pass up. I was SURE that the next Naked palette would be darker. Nope!
For a makeup novice like myself, I think this is the best palette out of the 3 because the colors arent as dark. Good for experimentations and way more day and night then the others two, which I feel are more dramatic
Is Naked 1, 2 or 3 your favorite? I have blonde hair/blue hooded eyes and fair skin, and can’t decide which one to purchase!?
N1 is probably my favorite 🙂 For your skin tone, based on readers, they seem to prefer N2!
These are really pretty and I love my original Naked so much, so I’m sure the formula is great. In my opinion, the first few colors all look the same. While they’re so pretty and I’m sure they work great, I’m going to have to pass this up since they’re so similar in my opinion.
Yaay….the UD Naked-3 palette is now available on their site! 🙂
Would you recomend this palette for over 35, that do not get Botox to keep their eyes taught? lol.
Some of them seem a little shimmery for the mid age set. lol. This is why I didn’t get N1.
Do you HATE shimmer on your eyes? I hear from readers who love their shimmer at any age, and I totally hear from other readers that they avoid or cut back on shimmer as they get older. I think this has more finishes than N1, so they’re not as OTT!
I’m one of those well over 35 women who loves her shimmer, provided it is a high quality, smooth product with a sheen rather than full on scaly glitter. I find that products with shimmer actually make my eyes look younger and fresher than flat, dry-looking matte shadows.
Ive been stalking urban decay’s site for a few days now so I just ordered mine this morning.
This naked palette is perfection to me, Im obsessed with pinky/peach nudes and dark taupe/brown/purple. I cant wait to play! It feels like this one was made for me!
Definitely waiting till it goes into Sephora for the VIB points.
And gosh darn it… I caved on this one too quickly! ARGH!
I have the first one, but I skipped the second one. This one looks great. The names are making me giggle. This may be a must buy for me.
Hi Christine! I need a piece of advice please. I want to buy one of the UD palettes (I don`t own any) and I don`t know which one. I have fair skin (I use as a fondation chanel vitalumiere 20 clair ) and brown eyes.
I think all three would suit you, actually! If you prefer cooler shades, N2.
OK, I’ll be buying this. I had no urge to buy Naked 1 or 2 because they looked so boring, but warm pinky brown neutrals are a little different and look insane with my blue eyes and skin tone. Sold!
Christine, how close is Nooner to MAC’s Blackberry? Thanks so much for the thorough review/comparison!
I think Blackberry is a bit darker, more purple/less pink!
Sold out already! I wonder how many they had to begin with. They should have made sure they had at least enough for all the Temptalia readers!
I thought I’d be all keen on this one but so many of the colours on the left hand side look almost indistinguishable from one another even IN THE PAN so once applied, there would be very little difference. Reminds me of Naked Basics in this regard. I’ll certainly check it out in store but more and more, and to my great surprise, I’m thinking I might pass on this.
Out of stock! I can wait though…I’d rather get extra goodies from Sephora while I wait 🙂
I am SOOOO excited about this palette! I am blonde, blue eyed with freckles with somewhat warm tones to my skin. I usually wear peachy blush and I love peachy coppery eye shadows and though I love my Naked 1 palette it does not have any of those types of colors in it which has always been a bit disappointing. I never bothered to get the Naked 2 as the taupe, greige colors it primarily has do not work with my skin tone. I think that this will be the prefect palette for my complexion . I cant wait to get it!
Dear Christine,Sorry if this was covered and i missed it
when will this be available at Sephora? Any idea? 🙂
Thank you =:o)
December – there is no specific date at this time!
How similar is Limit to Urban Decay’s other eyeshadow, Laced? I’ve had my eye on Laced for a while, but I’ve always been a bit hesitant about buying the individual shadows because of the price.
Laced is more beige! http://www.temptalia.com/urban-decay-laced-eyeshadow-review-photos-swatches
I’ve never bought a Naked palette yet but they seem to be getting nicer-looking each time (I love the burgundy and plum tones in this one).
I will pass. The original naked is the best palette ever. Naked 2 just failed for me so I will pass on naked 3.
It kind of irks me how much UD has raised the price of the naked palettes. I remember when the first one came out, it was I think $45 and now they’re all $52?! I’ve also noticed they’ve upped the price of their foundation by a dollar since the first time I’ve purchased it. Ugh this makes me want to stock up on UD products before they all become even more expensive.
I’m surprisingly very tempted by this and I’m not a fan of the other 2. I may have to…
this is going to look GORGEOUS on hazel eyes. this with some of the shades in the original will look phenomenal!
This is a no-brainer, can’t wait to get my hands on it!
My skin tone is about nw50 in mac and i’m really excited about this palette! But i’m worried that these colors won’t look good on my skin tone. What do you think?
I think a couple might get lost with your skin tone, but the lighter/darker ones should work!
ohhh my gossshhh. every review of this palette is junk compared to this review. i love how it’s broken down color by color in an in-depth way. and to see the dupe colors and look-a-likes also help. i think i just found my new favorite makeup blog! 😀
Thank you, Autumn!
amazing!
I look forward to seeing all the different looks that will pop off on YT using this palette.
This WILL be mine. I always wished my N1 palette had cooler-toned shadows. This is perfect for me. MUST HAVE! Thanks for taking the time to review AND compare with N1 & N2, Christine. You rock! Happy Thanksgiving Day, too! <3 😀
Happy Thanksgiving, Melissa!
I wasn’t too intrigued by Naked 3 at first but all of the hype made me really pay attention to the swatches. I was worried because of the pink tones this would be better suited for pale ladies but the color selection is so beautiful! I can’t wait for Sephora to get this in stock. I’ll definitely be hauling one when the holiday gift cards start rolling out!
Hey! I have naked 1 and 2 and only just recently bought them. I do a lot of traveling and so find them perfectly convenient.
I am of Pakistani/Indian heritage and have NC40-42 skin. I have heard that naked 3 is cool toned, and I am very warm toned. I love the pink neutrals, they’re my favourite- but will this not suit me???
Also, has anyone else been having problems with getting colour intensity out of the 2 palettes? I am using too faced primer or a mac paint pot and I’m getting creasing and wearing out whereas I never have with any other eyeshadows I use. I can’t go ott with the primers and powders on my eyelids (wearing more than one) because I am very very dry 🙁
Thanks in advance for your advice guys!!! Xx
Really weird, Zahra! Have you tried layering your two primers just to be safe? It seems so weird that you would have creasing when you have dry eyelids!
Hey Christine, eyeshadow deffo accumulates in my crease, and fades out of my lid, it also gets stuck to any dry patches I might have. Only with urban decay though:(
Any thoughts on whether the naked 3 paletter will suit warm undertoned skin??
Thanks hun, xx
Naked 3 will definitely suit warm undertones, but if you have problems with the other eyeshadows, I don’t think I’d get this 🙁
How do you feel about this palette in comparison to the Lorac Unzipped? Would you say this one is more pink? I’m trying to decide if this is worth adding to my collection when I already have Unzipped.
Sorry, I do not have that palette!
It’s pretty, but I don’t like wearing pink eyeshadow very much as it usually makes me look tired, so I’ll be skipping this.
It’s kinda hard for me to make sense of all three UD palettes, plus the Naked Basics… Christine, for a good starter/all-around neutral palette, what would you recommend if you could only choose one? I am quite fair-skinned with neutral to cool undertones and dark brown hair and eyes.
You may like N2 🙂
Urban decay just announced the new online release date for the naked 3 is on 12/6 for sephora.com, ulta.com and beauty.com
Do you think this palette is similar to Lorac’s unzipped? I just bought Lorac’s 2 weeks ago and LOVE it- would like to get Naked 3 but so far in the pics – they look very similar. Do u agree?
Sorry, I do not have that palette!
Hi Christine!
I have blonde hair, blue eyes and a light complexion. Do you think that Naked 2 or Naked 3 would work better for me? I am so torn! Thanks!!
N3
Hi Christine, just discovered your blog and the comprehensive, very helpful reviews. Could you please advise which of Urban Decay’s Naked 1, 2 or 3 eye shadow palettes would be the best bet for my NC 42 complexion? Thanks in advance:)
N1!
Thank you very much:)
I just had to go swatch it and see for myself what the hype was all about. Thought i would change my mind once i saw it in person but nope.
I have naked 1 and 2 and naked 3 is just soooooooo blah to me.
Passing on this one, dont know why everyone else is saying its so great.
its amazing how hyped makeup releases can be now! but some things are worth the hype—>Naked 3! Here’s my opinion:
I have the original one, love it, use it for smoky eyes and have even done some wedding makeup with it! I just love all the choices Naked 1 has. I did not buy Naked 2, it looked SO SIMILAR to the first one and so gray, and that only accentuates my hella dark circles, no thank you! Big pass on that one. I had no intention of buying Naked 3 until I saw it! It’s rosy heaven! I love the mix of rose brown neutrals, shimmery pinks and deep chocolates. One of my favorite eye looks is using Cliniques matte duo “chocolate kiss’–a light mauve and deep rose shade, beautiful on green eyes! Naked 3 is that duo on drugs! I love this! Rose, mauve, pink and chocolate look amazing on green eyes because it touches on the opposite tone of green-red. I feel like this is more work and day friendly than Naked 1 because there are more lighter, day shades without shit loads of shimmer. Thanks for the in depth review and swatches Christine! I always look at your site before buying any makeup!
My pleasure, Jess! I’m so glad you’re loving your Naked3!
I just got this palette and love it, some of the shadows are very dusty and the first four are very pale, there are some similar shades in there to, but Blackheart is a total standout for me and Strange doesnt come across pink at all, more an ivory. I would say Naked 2 is still my favourite, i mean there isnt even a brow highlight in naked 3! But what i do love is that all these shades are new and exclusive, and also that they are very different to anything else i own, i just think some of them are a little too similar. Nice addition to my collection though, I have all 4 naked palettes now and love them so much more than i thought i ever would and enjoy mixing and matching colours from them. Urban Decay always hits it out of the park for me, love them! xx
Hi christine
really nice blog. I dont do alot of makeup but was thinking of getting brown/bronze eyeshadow pallette. I love shimmer and glitter and have asian skin. I m torn between dior golden flower and ud 3. Which one would you recommend? Both look gorgeous, or please recommend something else
Hi Muna,
I would go with UD3!
I love this palette! loving the pink tone.;) and I love the packaging.
I have bought a Naked Palette 3 and am worried it is a fake. I am from Australia. How can I tell????
If you bought it from a legitimate retailer, then you should be good. If it’s through eBay or a third-party, then you’d have to really look hard at labels and packaging!
I totally thought I wouldn’t be into this palette, but I’m really liking the looks at it…surprising to me.
I wonder if trick can be duped with the bobbi brown old hollywood palette the golden pink eyeshadow. Now if only this palette could come back in stock where I live!
Odly enough I don’t have any of the Naked Palettes, I never usually wear much eyeshadow, but hese colours are just so pretty it may have just converted me.
You’ll have to keep us posted if it ends up working out for you!
I really like the colors towards the end of the palette (darker)but not too thrilled with the lighter colors. Not really grabbing me to spend 50 bucks on this one. If they make a new one with these pinks and incorporate some dark purples and maybe a couple of pretty blues, I will be all over it.
Hi!
Do you think this will be a good purchase for mature ladies? Like in the 50;s?
Or any one of the other Urban Decay 1/2 ?
Any suggestions ??
Thanks
and Happy New Year !!
How do you feel about shimmer, Silvia? I hear from readers that LOVE shimmer even as they have gotten older and others who stay far away from it.
I do like light shimmer as they say that it gives you light to your eyes
And I’ve been wondering in which one to purchase of the 3
And maybe this one is the best for Hazel Eyes ,light skin tone and highlighted hair What do you think ?? and thanks for the reply
😉
Hi Silvia!
I would go with this one 😀
I honestly cannot believe this A rating….
I’d love to hear your thoughts, Rebecca, on why you didn’t like it, or invite you to add your review to the palette’s review page to share with all readers. We each have our own experiences – doesn’t mean either is wrong. My experience with this palette was fantastic – it was really good quality – that’s why it got an A. You could read the review in full and see the reasons why more specifically as I went through every single shade! 🙂
Christine, could you please link me to this review page you speak of, lol? I’d love to see readers’ thoughts on the palette. I feel like the quality of the palette is consistent with the other two. My only issue has been with Trick. I love the shade (It’s the shade I was the most excited about.), but I’ve been having trouble getting it to show up on my lids as pigmented as when I swatch it. It just seems to want to stick on my brush or finger rather than transfer. I might do what I’ve heard others have done, which was to scrape the top layer a bit.
Hi Miss J!
In the Glossover, the product is linked, and that’s the permanent product page, where readers can also add reviews (if you are logged in, then you’ll see 5 gray stars underneath the thumbnail of the product right on the Glossover, and then you can actually rate and review from right there), but here is the Naked3 page: http://www.temptalia.com/product/urban-decay-eyeshadow-palette/naked3
Thank you!! I actually ended up making my way to the page just minutes after posting the comment, lol. I guess I hit enough right things to land me there. Good to know for future reference, so thank you for letting me know!
Glad you were able to find it 🙂
I love Naked 3 , I was sold the very day when I heard it had rose gold shades , absolutely love it. Its perfect for a romantic soft look .Though Naked 1 remains to be my fav and I love original Naked palettes packaging more than Naked 2 or Naked 3.
So glad you love your N3!
this is such a beautiful palette! I’m dying to get one of my own already…thanks for sharing this great review!
Hi!
In this blog they are using your pictures….Do they have your permission? Just to let you know

Thanks for letting me know! We don’t allow other websites to use our images.
Hi Christine, just FYI I found one of your photos in a website that appears to be selling copies of the naked 3 palette. Here’s the link: [redacted]
Cheers, Anne
Thanks, Anne!
I was reluctant to purchase this palette but my daughter surprised me by buying this palette online. The great news is she only spent $30 at bonanza. I played with the colors and I’m loving it. I prefer this over the Naked 2 because of it’s cool tones. I love the 1st palette and always go to it but since I try to incorporate the 2nd palette so I don’t feel like I’ve wasted my money; I still get the results I want. Definitely combining all 3 palettes together to try different looks out.
I’ve been wanting to purchase one of the Naked palettes, but I can’t decide which one would work best on me. I’m an NW 15-20, blonde hair and blue eyes. I’ve swatched the palettes in Sephora, but I just can’t decide! All 3 of the Naked palettes are gorgeous and I want one that would look the best on me. Does anyone have any advice?
Probably N3!
I found Nooner was also very close to Mac’s Quarry and Mugshot to Mac’s Satin Taupe, at least on my skin.
I had a question, do you think the other Urban Decay shadow “Laced” is similar to the color “Limit” in this palette? I recently got both the naked 3 and some single eye shadow shades from UD and noticed Laced looked very similar on me as Limit did. Just wondering if anyone else thought they were very similar as well.
Laced is more muted, grayer, Limit is pinker!
