Punk’s rebel spirit has a visual language all its own. Punk Couture: Eye Shadow x 4 builds fierce eyes with extreme black, silvered amethyst, nude matte and blackened plum. Also includes Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash, Penultimate Eye Liner and Eye Kohl. Neon Pigments instigate a chaos of colour, Retro Matte Lipstick attracts in true black, midnight violet, fig and oxblood, while Cremesheen Glass shimmers with golden and purple pearl. Cannot wait for these lippies. I’m hoping you get samples, so I can see your comparisons before I shop. I’m the most perplexed about Studded Kiss, as it seems pretty comparable to Endless Drama, Sin, and Diva.
I’m really interested in the glosses, as no one has posted swatches of them anywhere! I’m wondering how they compare to Style Black glosses, which I am still rationing.

I see Mac’s making a Captain Sensible pun with the ‘Jet boy’ lipstick! Way to go, Mac! The damned are one of the true unsung heroes of punk music.
really weird promo images for the lipsticks, much different from the images i’ve seen from people who’ve already received them! instigator looks way too red, and punk couture looks completely gray! i’m really excited for those two lipsticks though, wish i had picked them up when they were available on Nordstrom 🙁
Pretty sure this was an old promo they just recycled. I’ve seen it before. Thought it was odd but figured maybe I was imagining things lol
I agree… this is all wrong. The colors don’t match the descriptions, and there’s a 5th one called Carnal Instinct missing in entire thing. They’ve been building suspense on this long enough, you’d think they could get the promo material right. I think it was already released in Asia before Thanksgiving.
I agree that the promo pictures are really off. But the person that posted the picture of carnal instinct I don’t think realized that it’s gonna be in the magnetic nudes collection and not this one.
Oh, geez. I’m willing to bet anything that that eyeshadow quad is going to be a total flop, but — I really hope it won’t be! It looks like a dream quad in the making 🙂
I was thinking it has Idol Eyes (Lustre) and Carbon (which generally does poorly in most incarnations) so there’s half a dud right there. 🙁

I was able to get the lipsticks from Nordstroms during their pre-order and for whatever reason they shipped them out early to everyone. The lipsticks are NOT retro mattes despite the color story saying that they are. Not sure why that is the case…MAC never gave a clear answer to the question when asked. But the lipsticks (all 4) are just mattes. This is confirmed on the labeling on the tube and the boxes and with the texture of the actual lipsticks. They all feel similar to the texture of RiRi Nudes matte texture of that reference helps. Unless MAC releases a different version than what they released via Nordstrom then anyone really anticipating Retro Matte formula may be disappointed (or happy if RM is too drying for you). Just thought this info might help some out.

Wow, those Cremesheen glasses sure sound an awful lot like the Style Black colors from a few years ago. I did love those…and if these are more opaque….

The pigments are so tempting! I’m glad they’re permanent lol. I was able to order the lipsticks early when Nordstrom accidentally released the collection a few weeks ago. Punk Couture and Instigator are gorgeous colors! I even like Hautecore!
I am so looking forward to these lipsticks! I hope we can see swatches before they come out, but if not, I’ll just go to my mac store on the release date. Hopefully I can convince myself to only buy two.

I *finally* stopped shopping for myself before Christmas, and now I’m making lists of all the things to buy after Christmas. between all of these lipsticks (thanks to kesha above for swatching her early releases!), the quad, the naked 3 palette and the kb shimmer chrome polish, it is getting out of control! i barely even wear makeup! what is wrong with me?!

I see so many things here that I would love to try! I do love me some dark lipsticks/glosses, and there are so many here… I just hope the texture/application is good; it’s hard to get right with dark colours sometimes. Fingers crossed!

Studded kiss is just like diva…only a touch brighter… Punk couture is a dark grape purple…it’s streaky… Instigator is a pretty dark blackened boysenberry… It’s my fav.
oooh, Punk Couture (the lipstick) looks like it could be right up my alley! Christine, in your experience with makeup descriptions, where does “grape” fall on the purple scale — is it in the magenta family or is it something more blue-based?

That’s odd… I’m holding Hautecore, and it says “Matte,” not “Retro Matte.” This is just the same black lipstick promoted on Black Friday, isn’t it? Does the promo material say Retro? I’m also confused about the other lipsticks, because I’ve been seeing a total of 5 in the collection for months now, & 2 of them are purples. Every swatch I’ve seen of Instigator and Punk Couture has looked like Heroine and Strong Woman or maybe Magenta, and there’s a 5th color called Carnal Instinct that looks like a brick red. The promo pics look like 2 blacks and 2 reds. Why is MAC trying to confuse me?!? I need to retire. 🙁

Yeah, I realized that extra color was in the Magnetic Nude promotion as soon as I had sent this message, so… too late. You’ve probably seen the same picture around the net that I have, but there is a shot of 5 lipsticks + swatches of them all (marked “SAMPLE” under the names, so no formula on the labels), and that Carnal Instinct is in the set. I should have realized it was a mash-up of two collections since the original Asian blog I saw also showed all the Extra Dimension stuff. No idea why that blogger munched it all under the header “Punk Couture” but if I had to guess, I’d say MAC probably had not attached an official name to the second collection when those images started floating around.
I don’t think I have seen it, but I don’t quite keep up with spoilers as much now as I did four or five years ago (it’s hard to keep up and keep it all straight!). They could have been really early samples without press releases, as I know when MAC sends samples, it’s typically in clumps – like the Huggables and Magnetic Nude together. (No Punk Couture.)
Nevermind. Appears that 5th lipstick is listed along with the nude collection, although I fail to see how “Carnal Instinct Deep brick red with gold pearl (Frost)” can be defined as “nude” and I can’t help but wonder why the early swatch pics out of Asia show that one with the 4 Punk Couture lipsticks as if they’re part of a set.
OH MY MULLAH is going to disappear after those lippies! I can’t wait to hear your review on them ^_^
Somehow, some of the descriptions make me think about what they came out with for the whole black collection (i can’t remember the name, it was the one with the black with colored veins mineralize eyeshadows). I bought almost everything back then as I’m a fan of such things. I can’t wait to see swatches to see if they’re kinda similars ^^

Damn, I’m all for unusual lipglosses, and those three are practically CALLING MY NAME.
I went in to buy any of the lipsticks, really, and walked out with Studded Kiss. Probably the one that I wanted least.. And it’s probably my most favourite lipstick I’ve ever purchased. I’m not sure if it’s acceptable to wear deep red lips with Kelly Osborne coloured hair, but I’m doing it anyways !
