If you’re looking for a similarly shaped brush that does the same thing, take a look at Real Techniques Blush or Multitasking brushes! They’re super soft & dense, and a fraction of the price.

They are a fraction of the cost, and not as soft as the Wayne Goss Holiday brush. Even though the WG Holiday brush is expensive it will last longer than the RT brush. I’d rather save up money to buy a high quality brush.

xamyx Avatar

Well, if the WG brushes are any softer than the RT brushes, I can’t imagine them being too functional, at least with the products I use them with… Admittedly, I haven’t tried the WG brushes, which is a huge factor in my not being will to fork over nearly $100 for one brush without being able to touch it first, but the RT brushes are amazing, IMO. I wash my brushes after *every* use, and I use both of the aforementioned 3-4 times a week, and having had them for nearly a year, I can attest to the fact they’re in the same condition they were when I initially bought them. Sometimes a brush can be *too* soft, but I find the RT brushes to be the perfect balance.

I totally agree with you, thats actually what im doing instead of buy a bunch of cheap brushes saving to get expensive but good quality brushes that will last me many years and wont fall apart within months

I bought the white one. Hope its soft … I actually prefer goat over squirrel. As much as I love all my Chikuhodo’s and the 3 Hakuhodo blue squirrel hair ones I own, sometimes it just doesn’t give me enough pigment that I want.

For those that are new to Beautylish their offering $20 off when you spend $100 right now. (Ordered Technopagan with it)

I know this brush is expensive but I’ve been wanting this shape of brush for awhile and most natural hair brushes I found scratchy. The brushes are made by hakuhodo which is why there are so expensive. But the brushes are like butter even on my sentitive skin!

Willing to give this one a shot from his line. DEFINATLY the most expensive brush I’ll own (Louise Young pointed foundation being the second one now.)

Thanks for the heads up! I ordered this brush and 06 which I had been checking for a while for $90, and free international shipping to Hong Kong! But when I tried to put down a US address, the offer changed to the regular $50-$10. And then I tried shipping to Germany and it was $150-$25. I guess the offers are different depending on where you are.

There are *many* brushes that are “quality”, but not out of budget for many people. I like Wayne Goss, but when I’ve read random samplings of comments on his channel, the overall sense I get is alot of hos followers/subscribers don’t have deep pockets, and it just would be nice to see him partner with a company that can create quality at an affordable price, perhaps a second-tier line. I’m all for the free-market, and doing what you want, but at the same time, creating for the masses may ultimately be the the most fruitful…

Melinda Avatar

I agree. I find that WG’s face brushes are better priced than Chikuhodo and Hakuhodo, and same quality. The free shipping from Beautylish makes it even better and less wait time. Once you go high end on makeup brushes you never want to go back.

I second that. I commented in one of his videos to please put it in the permanent line because of that and so it would be more accessible for those people who can’t drop $85 at a weeks notice around the holidays. Also, for those who may wind up liking it enough to purchase a backup.his response: he pasted all the other reviewers comments praising the brush and thanking him for ‘re releasing…pompass in my opinion. I did wind up purchasing one. But I’m the type who likes a back up of essential tools . Without trying first,no way can I throw down that much $. So to me,he’s ultimately losing $. Its a tool..they wear out.not a lipstick shade.I hope I love it and it does perform well with multiple products or it’s going back no doubt.

Nicole Avatar

Sorry..that posted twice..I meant it for another response.
I own the 02 and it is fabulous.a daily for me and very soft.comparable to chikuhodo and hakuhodo

His brushes are great. But,unless your skin is very sensitive ,you can do just as well at a lowere price point. I just started buying these Japanes brushes last year because I had a rosacea outbreak in winter. My skin just doesn’t tolerate Mac,sigma, etc.I’m 38…save now..you are young and by the time your skin changes, brushes generally will outlive their life.

I have almost all of WG’s brushes and the Holiday Brush is by far my favorite. So glad they re-launched this year so I could get another. I use the black as my face powder brush and I just ordered the white which I’ll use for bronzer. Very good quality, soft brushes!

The price is does appear steep. But all you need is a few good ones. I haven’t bought this one yet or this brand, but I will soon…hopefully before it sells out. Suquu, Chikuhodo, Surratt and even Tom Ford are way more expensive. I think he does keep it at a reasonable price if you buy fur type brushes. I used to have brushes that shed back in the Stone Age and they were rough on my skin. So we are fortunate to have this option.

Sarah Avatar

Ah, way too expensive for me, and I honestly feel that nowadays there are way too many cheaper options for brushes that work just as well to justify me splurging on an expensive brush. This does look amazing though, I will keep this shape in mind when budget brush hunting 🙂

Sylirael Avatar

Ahh, I really want one of these shapes of powder brush. A big soft fluffy one 🙂 I’ve had my eye on the Suqqu one, but then I keep seeing all sorts of nice things from the -hodos, and even a few less ‘exclusive’ brands. Decisions, decisions… (and decisions about tools are always getting shifted back in favour of lipsticks, LOL!)

Firstly I’m definitely not a Wayne Goss fan girl in any way but I do own a few of his brushes and they’re amazing. Blow all my other brushes away. They’re the only high end, natural hair brushes I own with the exception of a couple from MAC which didn’t hold up well over time, shed quite a lot and were scratchy feeling to begin with. So that being said I purchased both versions of this brush as to have a back up. I feel they’re entirely worth the cost. No, they absolutely cannot be compared to real techniques. Not that there is anything wrong with cheap synthetic brushes. I own my fair share! They just can’t be compared in function or feel. My opinion. I guess some people wish he would have worked with a company to provide affordable brushes. Well, you get what you pay for! He only uses high end makeup and brushes… why would he want to attach his name to a drugstore quality product? These brushes are made by hand in Japan. One of the few reasons they’re a bit pricy. Not everyone can afford them, but that’s ok! Not everyone can afford a Lexus either, but that doesn’t mean Lexus is going to cheapen their brand and bring the price way down so everybody who wants one can have one.

I was like most of you here commenting about the price of WG’s brushes. Last year I started out by buying the eye set I passed when he first released the face set. Then, after using the eye set for a few months I fell in love with an inanimate object. I own nothing that even comes close to applying my makeup as flawless as the WG brushes. I own over 75 brushes and nothing does as good of a job as these do. I splurged on the face set and then this holiday season I bought the rest of the brushes he makes. Yes, it was allot of money but I still believe it was money well spent. I will definitely buy any other brush he puts out. You honestly cannot go wrong with these at all.
