I love the idea behind this, but trying to picture how this will work on darker skintones, which as I type I realize could look really amazing, and how will this work on tones like yours, Christine and mine which is a shade or two lighter. Will it get lost??

Estefania Avatar

Hi Brenda! Hope I can help. I’m a shade lighter than Christine (NC25-NC30), and I work for MAC. I swatched these at our counter just this weekend and I can vouch for the darker shades. I think the pale lemon eyeshadow color will be better for lighter skintones, but the darker shades are plenty pigmented and should work for ya!
Uplifting blush works more as a highlighter for me, since the shimmer makes it very light. Don’t expect too much out of the mineralize lipglasses, they’re really really sheer.

I had sworn off MAC for a bit after too many collections left me dizzy and confused. But those two skin finishes are mine! If I’m able to effectively stalk the site and get them. Can’t wait for reviews!

Oh, I can wear them just fine. I just don’t particularly like most of them. I find them boring in large doses. It really depends on the shade, though. I do like pinks and mint greens, and robin egg blue.

I’m getting dizzy with all the collections that MAC keeps coming out with. From what I’ve seen so far, cranking out so many collections so quickly is affecting the quality of the products, but I’ll withold judgement until I see some reviews. These look more like spring colors to me. I’m already so pale in winter that I think some of the lippies and glosses will wash me out even more, but the shadows look interesting

Christine you are killing me. Lol! Was all set to skip but you and an IG account I follow have made me change my mind. Can’t wait for your reviews!
Congratulations ,by the way. Consumer Report Shop Smart magazine gave Temptalia a shout out for makeup shopping

I just saw this the other day. It’s the December 2014 issue. “Great gifts under $25” is on the cover. Your dupe list is featured on page 61 in the article “Save big with beauty swaps”

Ooo.. I’m looking forward to this collection.. After your review! 😀 Seriously, that’s not Lightscapade. What will it be like? Can’t wait to find out as winter is basically here! I always go pastel/lighter in winter.. I like to make harmony with the feel of the season by going opposite 😀

It sounds like the color descriptions for the MSF’s are switched, I have Lightscapade and it matches the description above for Perfect Topping.

These sound lovely and frothy and pretty, definitely not my wheelhouse, but maybe I’ll be surprised!

Chelsea Avatar

I’m so confused…The descriptions on the MAC website are opposite from what you have above. I know the perfect topping description (before it was switched – “Shimmery off-white…”) sounds like the description for the old Lightscapade MSF, which I think is confusing a lot of people, but the shade itself of Lightscapade is actually different in the LE version. It seems that anywhere I see the descriptions as you have them, someone has commented telling the poster to change it, but as I said, on the MAC site, the peach w/lavender goes with the Lightscapade, and the Off-white w/pink/blue/yellow marble goes with Perfect Topping. Weird, and maybe I’m being overly picky, but just thought I’d see if you’ve heard anything further on this (like the MAC site being wrong, etc.).

Thank you for all you do! I love your site! <3

Christine Avatar

Sorry, I don’t get any information about the MAC website – but Perfect Topping doesn’t have any blue in it, which is why the description of “Shimmery off-white with light pink, blue, yellow marble” doesn’t seem right. It also makes sense given that Perfect Topping is more of a peach, whereas Lightscapade is more of a white. MAC has always used different descriptions for both shades in the past, but unfortunately, I don’t get insight from MAC as to why they’ve changed their descriptions this time!

The old description for Lightscapade is actually different – “soft candlelit beige with multi-dimensional shimmer.”

Chelsea Avatar

Gotcha! Yeah, it’s all very weird, and I agree that the descriptions as you have them appear to make more sense just looking at the shades. It’s just befuddling that MAC site doesn’t match, but oh well! I’m super fair, so there’s really no question which would work better for me, regardless of the descriptions! :o)

Thank you for taking the time to answer! <3

Well…since I was already in the market for a MSF powder, I’m really excited to see how these incarnations of Lightscapade and Perfect Topper swatch, as well as how well they perform! Also curious to see how that mint lipglass looks! Seems interesting.

Sarah Avatar

Some of those lipsticks look pretty in picture, but I’m not sure how well they’d look on me. I’m also not too sure about how I feel about Beautiful Moves — I haven’t been on the MAC scene long, but I don’t feel like they’ve done unusual lipglass colours too well in the past. I’ll just have to wait for the review!
