I had this release calendared and looked at them this morning. I feel like the price point is a bit high for this collection. The products would have to be spectacular for me to spend what they’re asking for it. I’ll be waiting for your review before I decide.

Linda Avatar

Whoa on the price points, but that bronzer looks perfect for me.

I have to say that I think of Victoria Beckham as an edgy, modern, updated classic like Audrey Herburn. I admire her style, and her seemingly high standards for what she puts her name on.

I’m in Ireland but got the modern mercury highlighter from the Estee UK website this morning @ 8am the release time , Selfrides had everything except the red lipstick and the highlighter . I have to say the prices were too expensive for EL stuff , they are even more than Tom Ford , it was priced on Selfridges at €84 for the eyeshadow palette and €48 for the single eyeshadows each !!! Way too much IMO :/

LaMaitresse Avatar

Could you get the VAT back at the airport or do you live in Eire? Make up is so pricey is Ireland, I always bring a small suitcase when I visit my relatives on my mothers side, almost the same price in Euros as dollars for euro brands made in the EU, bizarre, it used to be cheaper years ago!

LaMaitresse Avatar

“In” not “is” gosh my grammar and spelling go out the window, not sure if I get too excited and type too fast with two fingers, or the dreadful autocorrect!

TraceyMc Avatar

I live here in Ireland so no VAT back 🙁 . I find sometimes Tom Ford can be cheaper here than in the UK but this EL VB collection is overpriced IMHO .

Tracey E. Avatar

I bought Modern Mercury and the eye foils (15% off with Estee Lauder e-mail sigh up, 3% eBates), which made the price more reasonable. Look forward to reviews, especially the eye products.

This collection is a skip for me. IMO it looks too pricey for the products. For $ 80, I can get the Viseart Bijoux palette that’s top quality and with more shadows too. And I feel like running for the hills when I hear terms like “kajal” and “sooty” because the eye products will probably run and smudge on my super oily lids. I also saw pics of the packaging, and it looks like a cheap version of the Tom Ford Velvet Orchid makeup collection packaging. It’s also very strange because every time I see pics of Victoria Beckham, I never see colorful green/blue shadows or bold lips, always nude smoky eyes and neutral lips. IDK, she’s a beautiful woman with a killer bod, but I’m not feeling this one, but I am curious about it….

Ruby Avatar

Ha! I have the same concerns about the word “sooty.” It says to me about 5% of women will look sexy and demure while the other 95% are possibly going to get a “there’s some dirt by your eye” comment. I’ve been there! Especially as one gets older, the key to smoky looks seems to be subtle, subtle, subtle. Still, I have some curiosity as well to how these eye products actually apply.

Katherine T. Avatar

Yes, I don’t mind a slightly smudgy “sexy bedroom eyes” look, but with my oily lids, it might turn into raccoon eyes or worse, two giant black panda eyes!

Tracey E. Avatar

I heard the packaging described as weighty, with a solid ‘click’ sound, the kind of compacts from years gone by. If that’s the case, may make TF Orchid compacts look cheap.

Lea Avatar

It’s certainly possible and not having seen one in person, I can’t comment on the quality. My best guess is that for Beckham to put her name on it, she would insist on quality construction and product development. Her brand may be minimalist overall, but it’s always had a distinctive quality vibe to it.

My comment was only limited to very obvious packaging similarities on the palette and singles. Changing the clasp/closure isn’t sufficient, in my view, to not be a direct imitation of the Ford design. However, given that Ford is now under the EL umbrella, there could be a number of reasons for why they used something so similar.

Mariella Avatar

I’ve never been a big fan of Victoria Beckham but I do find that, for Estee Lauder, some of this stuff seems pretty over-priced. I do like that murky eyeshadow, though – I think it’s Bitter Clove but I’ll probably wait to learn of dupes for it.

LaMaitresse Avatar

I think I will pass, I like Victoria, but it’s a pricey line for Estée Lauder gussied up, and I’d rather spend my money on some Guerlain Xmas if it’s gorgeous or my secret boyfriend Tom Ford.

Eileen Avatar

Got the palette! Had an EL signup 15% off and a coupon from my credit card. Very excited to see how it does!! For eye shadows (singles&palettes) I ONLY have the UD naked palette in my collection so I’m very excited to finally use some colors on my lids (the blue looked gorgeous in her show.) Also interested in the bronzer and the lipsticks (maybe will purchase at the potential sephora launch.) But I want to wait for those reviews first. I already have too many highlighters for me to justify buying any more of those too!!

Christine Avatar

WWD reported this:

“The full collection will be sold at Bergdorf Goodman and bergdorfgoodman.com, Selfridges, Victoria Beckham’s Dover Street store in London and on victoriabeckham.com and esteelauder.com from Sept. 13. It will launch in the rest of the world from Oct. 1.”

Bergdorf Goodman’s promotional text has been “we have it first,” which suggests it will be available at other retailers, but I’m not sure. I don’t have any official info from Estee Lauder. The WWD excerpt is a bit confusing, since it says “rest of the world” (which could just imply distribution outside the listed regions) or could be at additional retailers.

Cathy Avatar

Now this is an interesting eye palette! I’d go for that, and the bronzer too, probably. To me this whole collection feels inspired by Tom Ford. Oh, and I had to laugh (twice lol) at the reference to that “sweaty-skin look”…seriously, not a look I’ve ever wanted to go for, but to each their own 😉

Schuschubaby Avatar

Anyone notice the packaging is the same as Tom Ford; looks like prices are too. Estee Lauder and Tom Ford cosmetics are most certainly “related”. Just go to their counters and check out their eye primer and eye shadows. Extremely similar, if not the same product.

Pearl Avatar

Beautiful colors and textures! I like that it is a small collection. The packaging looks great although very Tom Ford.

I will always see her as Posh Spice first and Victoria Beckham second. I have no interest in this collection because I’m sure I have dupes, I don’t care for Estee Lauder as a brand, and the price point is rude.

I wonder if this is a test run for her to see how cosmetics sell with her name on it and at that price point? She is a stickler for quality so if she were to launch a cosmetic line, I’m sure it would be quality, luxe and well edited. I just hope that in her PR piece she gets rid of the sweaty sexy description because that would make me steer clear as that is my default minus the sexy.

Pearl Avatar

Update: Annnnnd just made a liar out of myself. I couldn’t resist the highlighter after reading the review. I like the packaging, like the hatching pattern, like that it can be as subtle or as intense as desired. Can’t wait to receive mine!

I just realized that my beloved MAC is under the EL brand umbrella. There were a number of reasons why I have never bought from Estee Lauder, but considering that 95% of my collection is MAC, I guess it’s moot, now. ???

Ana Samuel Avatar

Can you believe the collection just arrived in Portugal today? An exclusive to el Corte Inglês. I purchased the highlight but my eyes were stuck in the clove eyeshadow, bronzer and lipstick…. So many pretty expensive things!!

Nicole Avatar

I think I’ve found this or someone has found some pieces for me. Christine, I was wondering your honest opinion on the amount of similarity between the green and golds in the palette and eye metals. I’m trying to decide if I buy the 3 eye metals, would the palette be overlap and vice versa? If anyone else should see these and wants to comment, please feel free! ?
