I don’t know what to make of this brush, except I don’t think I need it. Personally, I think it’s a little too splayed for a highlighter brush. As for blush, I think the #14 is more compact and manageable than this one looks. I guess it would be great for setting under eye concealer? Powdering the T-zone? Removing eyeshadow fallout? For $45, I’m not sure I’d use this brush very much. I’ll be interested to hear what other people think. Maybe I’m missing something.
Anne, you’re seeing exactly what I’m seeing, too. This brush has me scratching my head in confusion with those very splayed bristles!
For the majority of consumers this brush won’t make a lot of sense or be very practical, which I can definitely understand. I believe this brush is also a bit more of a cultural experience, as the brush shape is identical to traditional Japanese craft brushes. This particular brush is also made with blue squirrel hair, which is too delicate to use with creams or liquids. This means that you can’t even set your concealer or foundation, as it damages the bristles. As such, the brush will only ever be ideal for finishing touches, which is not going to make people very happy for $45.
With all of that being said, I am definitely getting one and am absolutely smitten with this brush shape and how it looks like a traditional craft brush. It makes me feel very painterly and inspired! Also, blue squirrel hair is so soft and pleasurable on the skin, so I am positive this brush will prove to be a truly luxurious experience.
Agree with you, I think my fan brush would do what this brush does at $20 cheaper
There *must* be some logic behind this rather messy looking, noticably splayed brush head? But it has me confounded. $45 for something that reminds me of my Lisa Frank brush? NOPE!
Nancy, you just rolled me over laughing! What a funny comparison, and now that I look at my Lisa Frank brush (I think we have the same one!) I totally see what you mean.
I think that you’d have to use it, rather than just see it, but I doubt i’m going there either. There is something about it that strikes me not as different for functional, but different for different’s sake. But considering WG’s success with holiday LE brushes, I would not write it off easily.
I love Wayne Goss brushes, but I was a little confused about this brush. So I went to his youtube and watched his video about the multi functions this brush has. It can be used with any foundation type, bronzer, blush,highlighter,powder etc. So now I am curious because the brush looks beautiful, it has me thinking maybe giving it a try? I’ll post back if I do buy it.

Looks interesting, but just to sweep powder on? For $45? I can think of a lot of things I can spend that money on when I have other brushes that can do the same thing. I know it will be soft and luxurious, I own his set of brushes and love using them, but will pass on this one.
I picked one up to be even more subtle with certain highlighters where the pigment and level of intensity that I prefer are at odds with each other. I’m hoping for a brush that is wider and even more delicate on contact than a WG #14 yet less fluffy than a MAC 137. Am also hoping it can pick up certain highlighters like Bobbi Brown’s formula without the need to overload one’s brush by digging into the product. (I usually turn to WG fan brush for these types of highlighters.) The price point and Beautylish gift cards allow me to experiment.
I’ve ordered this because I’m a sucker for these WG holiday brushes (except for that prohibitively expensive finishing brush from last year!) but I’m not sure how I’ll use it yet. They say highlighting but I think the bristles are going to be too soft for some of my stiffer gelee type highlighters I have. Could be nice for blush though!
I bought it because I thought it would be perfect for Trophy Wife. I used it this morning, and it just reinforced the notion that Trophy Wife is nothing but glitter.
I’m going to try using it with some Becca highlighters. The brush is deliciously soft, and it does provide that subtle sweep of color. I just need to use it with a highlighter that’s less glittery.

A note on Trophy Wife and any else really glittery… denser brush will pick up more of the base powder than a really fluffy one, which will likely only get the glitter!
