Just wrote a lengthy reply and lost it. Booo. Your photo shows fine. I have assumed, and probably not rightly so, that this was a promo shot and copy. If so, it tells you zero about the product. An ADON at a SNF once described a wandered-off gent as being ambulatory and having white hair. That described more than half of the gents in the building, so did not help locate the wanderer at all. That’s what this lipstick photo does for me. It in no way tells us which shade of red, or how it might swatch or look on different skin colors. People familiar with the formula probably know the finish. If this is just a sneak peek photo to show us what’s available LE this season, fine. I don’t mean to be cranky or critical. If this is not company copy, I have no issue with it, other than no ‘how is this different from any other red l/s? Clearly many other readers have a far better idea of the product than I.

I am personally not enthused by the clear top on the cap. I don’t own enough lipsticks to make finding the shade I wish to use a chore. It reminds me too much of Revlon lipsticks (which are great lipsticks don’t get me wrong) and takes away from the luxury of the packaging.

I might change my mind after seeing it from the top with the cap on, marketing photos don’t always paint the full picture.

The color looks lovely, and I like the idea that it is more of a lip balm than a lipstick (since Chanel’s lipsticks can sometimes be a bit drying). I ordered it, and it is a beautiful color on me and an even more gorgeous color on one of my daughters! The color looks a bit more pink on my second daughter (but somehow her lips are able to turn almost every lipstick into some shade of pink). It wears off a bit when eating and drinking (more than a true lipstick), but it stays on better than tinted lip balms. I have a LOT of lipsticks, so I am appreciative of the clear cap.
