I’m also Canadian and was inspecting these quads closely to see if either might be worth it in the promotional photos, but even though I love Tom Ford, those quads are way too dupable for the price point.

I can’t even imagine, Mariella! I think it is bad enough paying $90 USD. I always want to love Tom Ford makeup products but I am not wowed by any of them. I think the closest I have gotten is a couple of lipsticks and one of his potted shadows, Platinum, which I wear as a one and done shadow. I just don’t get the hype.

I’ve never purchased a single item from Tom Ford because, to be honest, I find his pricing reprehensible, especially when the quality often isn’t there (and even if it is, in a time when people are really struggling, $80 for a lipstick that probably cost $5 to make, is objectionable to me). Anyone who has some of UD’s stellar teals and blues (from the days before UD became crap) will have dupes for those 2 stunner shades in the Dark Opulence quad. And so many of his quads are either redundant (warm pinks and peach shades, etc. and so like that new one from Guerlain that I thought was from TF) or really not of outstanding quality, from the reliable reviews I’ve read. Someone here – maybe it was Nancy T – splurged on one of his more popular quads (Honeymoon? Nude Dip) and, if I’m recalling correctly, regretted it.

It sounds like me. I use to lament on the blog all the time about my purchasing Honeymoon and how terrible it performed for me. The colors were okay but nothing to write home about either. I felt the same way about the one Charlotte Tilbury quad I bought which was Vintage Vamp. In both cases, I bought 2 of each and gave one of each to my daughter. She didn’t love them either. We both wore the Vintage Vamp when we went to see Adele in Seattle and by the end of the night our eye looks were both muddy and mostly gone. We had just purchased the shadows the day before when we were in Vancouver and were excited to wear them. The Nordstrom’s was still there at the time. We should have returned them to the Nordstrom’s in Seattle but didn’t. We thought maybe we could work with them using different primer etcetera. No way.
I just found out that Nordstrom’s closed all their stores in Canada. What a shock when we got to the store and everything was closed up. I read that the Vancouver store was Nordstrom’s best performing store anywhere in the world when they closed. How sad. I don’t know where you buy brands that aren’t carried at Sephora. I looked for Chanel, Tom Ford, Cle de Peau, La Mer at Sephora when we were in Vancouver last week and nothing. The Sephora was quite large and new so they did carry quite a lot but no prestige brands, just high end.

I really like Tom Ford shadows and love these colors. The problem is that I have way to many shadows already and am wearing makeup much less often. I’m very tempted but I think I may pass.
I’m sorry for Canadian makeup lovers. Those prices are insane-

Bought Dark Opulence this week and wore it yesterday. The colors are rich, blendable. It is pricey and I had initially planned to buy it either on sale or in a CCS store but couldn’t wait. It is a wonderful palette and I received compliments upon wearing it. But now I wished I waited because I believe the CCS store would’ve had at some point. Spent 90+ tax.😳 Did not buy the other palette that was launched with this one.
