Release Date + About the Launch
Byzance: eternal, opulent, artistic, baroque. Gabrielle Chanel once asked herself, “Why does everything I do end up with a Byzantine feel?” The CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio, inspired by Mademoiselle’s jewelry pieces featuring bold combinations of precious stones and pâtes de verre, has designed 4 eyeshadow palettes that give the gaze a mesmerizing look.

All but the least interesting of these (bottom left in the photo) contain colours to which I don’t naturally gravitate. Still, if someone “gifted” me one of these, especially Baroque or Imperiale, I would force myself to wear them and experiment.
I have seen several YT’ers share swatches and done eye looks with these quads. I like them all, don’t love any single one and probably will pick up just one. I really wish I could pull from all four quads to make my own quad, LOL!! Of the four, I think Parure Cristal would be my choice. It has the most basic color story and nothing that I would never use. I like the gold shades but I have so many from Pat McGrath that buying from Chanel seems like a waste. It is nice to have a good gold in a small palette as I am leaning towards more small palettes. The big mega palettes just don’t interest me anymore. They are hard to travel with and I end up only using a few shades, over and over, to make my looks.
Having watched several reviews with live applications of 3 out of 4, I’m just not impressed. Neither were the YouTubers as they seemed to struggle with getting the beautiful quality that Chanel eyeshadows usually bring. A few mentioned that it was an entirely new formula, and that they didn’t care for it.
I am not feeling the love for these Chanel quads lately. If I were to pick one, it would be the neutral one at the top right. But at this time, I’m possibly holding out for their holiday releases. I am curious about their loose powder eyeshadows, but I’m also wondering about alot of fallout that I’m hearing about these too. I am curious about their Rouge 31 lipsticks, but at a 195.00/apiece, that is where it will stay- a curiosity!
I am looking forward to seeing some of these in detail and sincerely hope that Chanel has done a much better job with their Autumn collection than Dior.
The ones I am most interested in are: Parure Venetienne and Baroque.
I couldn’t wait for reviews and purchased Baroque. I have read that it’s not overly pigmented, but it’s absolutely perfect in my books. With the level of payment they have, it makes it very very wearable, despite the deep colours. I’m tempted to pick up. Imperial too.
I sort of like all four.
It’s going to be interesting to see them reviewed in the future.
I don’t follow any you tubers so I’ve so far not seen how any of them perform.
